The AMR IRG is an interdisciplinary community of biologists, engineers, and clinicians from MIT and Singapore, sharing a state-of-the art research facility and united by a commitment to providing a supportive intellectual environment where students and staff can learn, grow, and contribute to solving a pressing societal problem.

The objective of this project is to advance the field of RNA analysis by developing and implementing innovative analytical tools. These tools will be used in a comprehensive study of all forms of RNA -- the ribonucleome -- and the >170 RNA modifications -- the epitranscriptome -- in disease pathobiology, host-pathogen interactions, biomarker development, and therapeutic target discovery.

Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will plan and conduct experiments with the aim of studying the roles of RNA modifications in human immunue diseases. As the Research Engineer (Equipment/Operations), you are directly involved in tool installation activities for semiconductor process tools. You would need to work proactively to coordinate with the contractor on the ground for the execution and take corrective and preventive actions of lessons learned, due diligently to prevent reoccurrence. We are looking for a motivated bioinformatics specialist who is keen on studying how microbes contribute to common skin diseases such as eczema and acne. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. We have extensive experience in metagenomic analysis in clinically or commercially important contexts such as uncovering distinct microbial communities in households affected by paediatric eczema (PMID: 35318044) and revealing the microbial basis of body odour in teenagers (PMID: 30497517). We are now focusing on applying various -omics capabilities to larger sized disease cohorts to understand how microbial pathways and biomarkers change with disease progression and treatment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with unique access to next-generation sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. Project findings will have direct applications to ongoing and new microbiome research projects in the lab, particularly in skin diseases.

The candidate will contribute to extending and enhancing CAG’s research on China-India relations, including re-establishing workshops and dialogues on China-India relations. The successful candidate will also be working with the Asia Research Institute of NUS to prepare an Encyclopedia of China-India relations since antiquity.

The candidate will conduct independent, in-depth, and publishable research on issues in his/her expertise and contribute to the Centre’s agenda on international relations in general, and China-India relations in particular.

A highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow is sought for Dr. Sampath’s laboratory in A*STAR Skin Research Labs, Singapore. This group focuses on exploring and developing RNA therapeutics for various epithelial disorders, including proinflammatory skin conditions and cancer. Delineating the underlying molecular mechanisms and visualizing these interactions, the objective is to identify specific targets and develop targeted therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work on a couple of these projects, which involves 1. Design and development of an innovative strategy (RNAi-based) for therapeutic intervention of the target gene. 2. Evaluate the efficacy of the pharmaceutical composition by in-vitro assays, ex vivo and in vivo model systems.
