The Duke-NUS Laboratory for Translational and Molecular Imaging (LTMI), Duke-NUS Medical School, is recruiting a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to lead state-of-the-art small animal imaging studies in Viral Infectious Disease. LTMI aims to develop local infrastructure and deep capabilities in the development of molecular imaging technologies for guiding the advancement and translation of new imaging biomarkers to guide novel therapeutics in viral infectious disease.

The successful candidate will lead pre-clinical imaging efforts to validate novel imaging probes that target potential biomarkers of viral infection and host response. The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

Prof Derek Hausenloy’s laboratory aims to discover new treatments for protecting the heart from acute ischaemia/reperfusion injury and for preventing heart failure. We use a translational approach to research comprising cell models, rodent models (atherosclerosis, acute myocardial infarction and heart failure), nanoparticles for delivery of therapeutics to the ischaemic heart, and clinical studies.

The objective of this project is to advance the field of RNA analysis by developing and implementing innovative analytical tools. These tools will be used in a comprehensive study of all forms of RNA -- the ribonucleome -- and the >170 RNA modifications -- the epitranscriptome -- in disease pathobiology, host-pathogen interactions, biomarker development, and therapeutic target discovery.

Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will plan and conduct experiments with the aim of studying the roles of RNA modifications in human immunue diseases. The candidate will work primarily on cell culture, RNA isolation, and chromatography-coupled mass spectrometry analysis.
