Research project: Connecting within-host viral dynamics with the epidemiology of COVID-19: a multiscale computational infrastructure

In this project, we aim to develop a multiscale modeling framework and computational infrastructure to connect within-host viral dynamics/antibody dynamics and between-host transmission dynamics. The multiscale model will help address key epidemiological and public health questions which could not be answered by classic (single scale) approaches. Specifically, we plan to develop and calibrate the multiscale model for SARS-CoV-2 and assess effect of intervention (e.g., antiviral treatment) on epidemiological dynamics.

This project is led by Keisuke Ejima, an Assistant Professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University.

The Research Fellow primarily leads the project under supervision of PI in the areas of collecting clean data, reviewing literatures, lead model development, lead data analyses, leading the manuscript writing and other areas of the project support.

Candidates should have a Master degree in a quantitative field, such as data science, computational biology, mathematics, computer science, (bio)statistics, or related field. The Carney lab investigates the cell dynamics in the skeletal system and epithelia. Its analyses have implications for fundamental cell biology, evolution, genetics and clinical underpinnings of disease. Guided by issues facing the clinic, the lab has recently modelled diseases affecting skeletal system and has developed a model of bone necrosis.

We are currently recruiting a Research Associate to work on interrogating a zebrafish model of a clinical bone necrosis. Working closely with a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, the job will include molecular biology, animal husbandry, cloning, transgenesis and genotyping as well as imaging approaches. Furthermore, the applicant will be expected to offer general support in laboratory maintenance tasks, including laboratory supply and inventory control, procurement and routine genotyping and fish line maintenance. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for conducting research on mobile-friendly data visualization, including mobile data visualization design and convenient interactions. The SLim Group is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated early-career scientist as a Research Associate (RA) who is interested in advancing the application of protein cages as MRI contrast agent in identifying atherosclerotic plaques. The RA will be an individual contributor who is a technical expert and will be working in a multi-disciplinary team involving bioengineer, materials scientist, biological scientist, and medical physicist.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting up protocols for imaging and analyzing the protein cage within the plaques;

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

The Research Fellow’s role is primarily to execute project in a multidisciplinary team, aiming to perform experimental measurement to optimize the two-phase flow in trickle-bed reactors. Liquid distributions, pressure drop, heat and mass transfer properties will be evaluated under various operating conditions.

The Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA), at the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow.

The main theme of fellowship is on "The New Political Economy and Public Governance in a Globalizing Asia", with a focus on China and/or Southeast Asia (Singapore in particular), including ASEAN integration in the contexts of changing geopolitics and the new international political economy, such as the RCEP.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Director (Research & Executive Education), NCPA (Professor Liu Hong), who will serve as the primary mentor, and other research staff at NCPA as well as the School of Social Sciences.

The MVAIT lab at Nanyang Technological University conducts high quality research on AI for medicine. These projects include the development of AI and software tools for the analysis of different types of medical data, such as omics, cell and medical imaging data. The objective is to enhance clinical efficiency and introduce affordable and effective biomedical technology to the society.

The role of the Research Associate includes conducting research on medical imaging data processing, 3D reconstruction, and AI algorithms with surgical robotics. The RA will not only design and implement state-of-the-art algorithms but will also be actively involved in the development and refinement of AI tools tailored for diverse medical domains. These endeavors aim to bridge the gap between advanced computational solutions and practical medical applications. The tools and solutions developed by the RA will be meticulously adapted to help the clinicians, radiologists, and biologists, facilitating them in their daily tasks and pioneering research. The RA will be involved in projects which aims to harness technology for the enhancement of patient outcomes and clinical efficiency.
