A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for spatial omics and precision medicine is available at the Loo Lab in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The Ocular Epidemiological Research Group at SERI conducts ophthalmic epidemiologic research in Singapore and Asia under the Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Diseases (SEED) programme collectively involving over 10,000 study subjects, with comprehensive clinical, image and genetic data. One of the projects including SEED data is ‘Diabetes studY in Nephropathy And other Microvascular cOmplications (DYNAMO-II)’. DYNAMO-II aims to determine the longitudinal relationship between retinal imaging parameters and long-term risk and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and determine the predictive value of retinal vascular imaging measures in identifying patients at risk of CKD, and other adverse outcomes including renal failure, cardiovascular disease and deaths using both data-derived machine learning and retinal image-based “deep learning” algorithms with validation in different local and international cohorts. DYNAMO also includes a clinical cohort that recruits diabetic patients from clinics to predict the progression of CKD.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform data analyses including (but not limited to) data harmonization, data visualization, survival analyses, regression, and predictive modelling (traditional as well as machine learning models)

A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. This role requires good understanding and knowledge of the underlying key process/chemical engineering and scientific principles of low carbon technologies and uses computer aided engineering tools such as simulators, process and plant engineering tools for process development and engineering. This individual thinks analytically to solve problems and improve existing methods and processes.

A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Officer specializing in AI and spatial multi-omics to join our cutting-edge research team. This role focuses on advancing cancer immunotherapy (IO) for Asian-prevalent tumors through the integration of Generative AI techniques and spatial multi-omics data analysis. This position offers a unique opportunity to address critical challenges in immunotherapy, such as the identification of effective biomarkers and an in-depth understanding of the tumor microenvironment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Multi-Omics-IO Classifier Development: Develop and validate a classifier to integrate IO biomarkers identified from the multi-omics analyses, benchmarked against conventional markers (e.g., PD-1/PD-L1).

2. AI Model Development: Create AI models for virtual staining to visualize gene expression and multi-omics biomarkers.

3. Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate with pathologists, immunologists, and AI researchers to ensure robust, clinically relevant model development. Prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in AI/ML, or a related field with a strong focus on imaging and deep learning.
• Technical Skills: Expertise in AI techniques and experience in omics data analysis.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, with experience in deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with cancer immunotherapy and biomarker development.
• Analytical Skills: Proven experience in developing and evaluating complex machine learning models, especially for biomarker discovery and clinical applications.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and technical staff.
• Preferably with experience with virtual staining, explainable AI, and histopathological analysis. A track record of publications in high-impact journals and presentations at scientific conferences. Prior experience in developing and applying AI models in healthcare or clinical settings is a plus.
