The NTU-WeBank Joint Research Centre On FinTech invites applications for the position of Principal Research Scientist.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage individual and collective research projects, with a particular focus on distributed architecture, cloud computing, AGILE methodologies and big data.
• Employ profound industry insights and awareness of technological trends to contribute meaningfully to the project's R&D efforts, striving for pioneering outcomes.
• Initiate and oversee the development and presentation of prototypes, facilitating bench-top demonstrations to showcase potential applications and enhance research discoveries.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree in a related field will be an advantage.

Institute for Pedagogical Innovation, Research & Excellence (InsPIRE) is a collaborative entity within the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a mission to unite various entities and foster a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.

InsPIRE is seeking a Research Associate to work with NTU faculty staff in the development of simulations, 3D visualization (such as AR / VR) and computer games for education purposes, particularly for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This is to augment to NTU’s efforts in advancing the use of education technology in teaching and learning. The incumbent will also work with faculty staff to promote the use of EdTech tools, to develop and conduct education research studies, publications and other administration related to academic matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct surveillance of education technology, identifying those that can be used for education purposes, particularly for courses pertaining to disciplines in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
• Work together with faculty and lead in the development of simulations / 3D visualization that can be incorporated pedagogically into STEM courses.
• Development of computer simulations (using Matlab, Solidworks, SIMPHY, COMSOL etc) for education. The focus will be on simulations that can be distributed for student use.
• Development of AR / VR / 360 video content for the purposes of teaching and learning
• Development of educational computer games for the purposes of teaching and learning
• Conduct simple studies on the effectiveness of technology on learning
• Inform and work with faculty staff to promote the use of education technology
• Develop prototype applications of simulations, AR/VR, gaming in courses that can be easily adapted for courses
• Develop the workflow for the incorporation of new education technology into courses
• Develop and conduct education research studies
• Provide support in communications, publications and administration related to academic matters, including working with other departments such as the cybersecurity team, legal office in this area

Job Requirements:

• Masters from a recognized university
• Knowledge of education technology, simulation (such as Matlab, Solidworks, SIMPHY, COMSOL), AR/VR and education gaming tools (such as Unity)
• Pedagogical knowledge of teaching and learning
• Teaching experience in a tertiary institution
• Strong planning and organization skills
• Excellent team player with demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrate initiative, adaptability and creative problem-solving
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7:00am to 4:30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
• Fridays: 7:00am to 4:00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
• Working hours may be adjusted occasionally, within the 42-hour per week limit, to meet school’s needs
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

The Services required are set out as follows:

· Assist teachers in the preparation of teaching materials, laboratory resources, conduct of practical sessions and preparation of worksheets;

· Provide support for programmes run by the department which may include shifting of bulky laboratory items;

Accompany students on learning journeys

· Manage inventory of school’s laboratory and science equipment and materials;

· Maintain cleanliness and neatness in the Science Laboratory; and

· Assist in any other duties assigned by the school.

Requirement:

· At least 1 year of working experience;

· A pass in English Language at N or O level or its equivalent;

· A pass in Science at N or O level or its equivalent;

· Excellent team-player who is organized, meticulous and with the ability to multi-task;

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills; and

· Preferably to be proficient in Microsoft Office/Word.
