We are looking for candidates to join the fusion-energy effort in the newly formed Future Energy Acceleration & Translation (FEAT) Programme, A*STAR. FEAT's plasma physics team focuses primarily on plasma diagnostics, microwave and radiofrequency (RF) heating and current drive (H&CD), and exhaust, with an emphasis on solving the challenges faced by future fusion energy systems. The new hires will be expected to contribute to, and potentially lead, research in magnetic confinement fusion. This includes analytical, computational, and experimental approaches, with the particular emphasis dependent on one's interests and skill set. While the new hires will begin by working on existing projects, participation in grant calls as a principal investigator will be highly encouraged.

We are looking to fill several positions in:

• Plasma diagnostics, including experimental, computational, and AI approaches.
• Theory and simulation of microwave and RF H&CD.
• Theory and simulation of plasma-material interactions, including edge turbulence and transport, sheaths, and sheath-edge coupling.

The key scope of work includes:

• Understanding the physics of fusion plasmas, exhaust, plasma diagnostics, and/or RF H&CD.

• Writing grants and developing the direction of fusion research in FEAT.
• Supporting local and international collaborators in fusion research.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Physics, Plasma Physics, or equivalent, with a background in magnetic confinement fusion, such as in plasma physics and/or engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Deep knowledge in at least one of the followings:
  1. Plasma diagnostics (including hardware experience). Candidates with an experimental inclination will have the opportunity to travel to international collaborators' experiments for extended periods.
  2. Theoretical plasma physics (such as plasma waves, turbulent transport).
  3. Computational plasma physics (such as full-wave, beam tracing, fluid dynamics, gyrokinetics).

Job duties and responsibilities :

A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. This role requires good understanding and knowledge of the underlying key process/chemical engineering and scientific principles of low carbon technologies and uses computer aided engineering tools such as simulators, process and plant engineering tools for process development and engineering. A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. This role requires good understanding and knowledge of the underlying key process/chemical engineering and scientific principles of low carbon technologies and uses computer aided engineering tools such as simulators, process and plant engineering tools for process development and engineering. This individual thinks analytically to solve problems and improve existing methods and processes.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for providing scientific and technical direction and/or development, design, and scale up of carbon capture, utilisation and low carbon hydrogen technologies
• Responsible for developing new projects, including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.
• Responsible for the executing or planning/directing of laboratory-based or pilot-based experiments to support process development, scale-up campaigns and process optimisation leading up to technology transfer
• Lead or support multi-disciplinary team of scientist and engineers through technical challenges and contribute to the successful completion of projects

The Ocular Epidemiological Research Group at SERI conducts ophthalmic epidemiologic research in Singapore and Asia under the Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Diseases (SEED) programme collectively involving over 10,000 study subjects, with comprehensive clinical, image and genetic data. One of the projects including SEED data is ‘Diabetes studY in Nephropathy And other Microvascular cOmplications (DYNAMO-II)’. DYNAMO-II aims to determine the longitudinal relationship between retinal imaging parameters and long-term risk and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and determine the predictive value of retinal vascular imaging measures in identifying patients at risk of CKD, and other adverse outcomes including renal failure, cardiovascular disease and deaths using both data-derived machine learning and retinal image-based “deep learning” algorithms with validation in different local and international cohorts. DYNAMO also includes a clinical cohort that recruits diabetic patients from clinics to predict the progression of CKD.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform data analyses including (but not limited to) data harmonization, data visualization, survival analyses, regression, and predictive modelling (traditional as well as machine learning models)
• Assist the Principal Investigator in developing and writing analytical plans including sample size calculations for grant applications and statistical analysis and interpretation of results for scientific manuscripts

A*STAR is spearheading a series of Strategic Research & Translational Thrust (SRTT) that harnesses its multidisciplinary expertise to undertake a focused research mission. Operating as a cross-A*STAR initiative, SRTTs are geared at delivering impact and outcomes in specific thematic areas. Led by the A*STAR Research Office (RO), SRTTs will be actively managed where the SRTT Programme Directors and research team members will be provided dedicated central support.

Under the newly established Central Initiative Administration (CIA), A*STAR is recruiting a Senior Associate/Assistant Manager for Administrative Support for all RO and SRTTs activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the SRTT Director Corporate Services (DCS) to support the RO and SRTTs administrative activities, the role includes but not limited to:

1. General Administrative Support:

• Provide day-to-day administrative support.
• Handle correspondence, prepare documents, and manage office communications.
• Handle Procurement / Finance related matters, e.g., Raise budget memo for approval, raise purchase requests, goods receiving etc.

2. Calendar Scheduling:

• Provide logistic support for events, including registration and ushering.
