• - Ensure that all apparatus and equipment are safe for use.
• - Ensure that chemicals are labelled properly in accordance to GHS in Chapter9.
• - Ensure that spills are handled in accordance with guidelines.
• - Ensure that chemicals (see Section 11.3.5.) and biological materials (see Section 10.3.7.) are disposed of appropriately.
• - Store, use and handle chemical explosive precursors (EP) in accordance with the regulations stated in Section 11.2.

PART B

• - Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, PPE, materials and specimens in good working condition.
• - Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately, and display an "Out of Order" sign prominently on the machines/equipment.
• - Check that safety devices in the laboratory, such as emergency eyewashers, showers and fire extinguishers, are in working condition.
• - Inspect gas and water systems and initiate necessary repair or maintenance work.
• - Maintain a record or file of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that accompany purchased chemicals (see also Section 11.3.1. on the classification of hazardous chemicals).
• - Keep a stock book and breakage record and indicate necessary replacement.
• - Prepare an inventory of stocks annually.
• - Maintain a usage record.
• - Check and replenish first aid supplies (see Annex B for the minimum contents of a First Aid Kit).
• - Guide or supervise laboratory attendants, or other personnel working in the lab, on laboratory safety.

5. Support Science/Maker-related CCAs on CCA days from 7:30am to 9:00am;

6. Oversee the use of the Maker Studio(s) by students during recess and after school;

7. Carry out regular maintenance of Science resources/apparatus and the SPARKLES Kit;

8. Carry out internal stock take of resources and inform Science HOD/LH SC on stocks to be replaced;

Administrative duties and responsibilities of the Science Laboratory Assistant during school holidays:

1. The School Laboratory Assistant is to perform the following administrative duties:

• - front desk duties (e.g. handling calls in general office, attending to students)

• - assisting ESOs
• - administration tasks assigned by the Vice-Principal / Admin Manager.

2. To be responsible for the proper maintenance of all the First Aid Boxes in the school

We are looking for highly motivated individual who have a strong desire and passion to search for and validate novel molecular targets, biomarkers and therapeutic pre-drugs in multiple in vitro and in vivo disease models against neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease and other human neurodegenerative disorder in our Translational Therapeutics Laboratory of National Neuroscience Institute of Singapore.

The successful candidate will be recruited to perform challenging and interesting molecular and cellular translational neuroscience research on human neurodegenerative diseases.

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) established in September 2010 is a partnership between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The school operates from two campuses – Yunnan Campus at Nanyang Technological University and a new campus to be built at Novena. Antimicrobial drug resistance is a growing an alarming problem that poses serious challenges to the existing public health infrastructure of Singapore and of the rest of the world. Microbial pathogens are becoming more and more difficult to treat as they steadily gain partial and full resistance to last-line antibiotics.

Recalcitrant infections can add enormous costs and strains to health care systems that are already stressed. This is especially a concern in Singapore, where between now and 2030, the health care system will need to accommodate the costs associated with a population that will undergo an unprecedented age shift in which the number of residents aged 65 years or older will increase threefold. Altogether, there is an urgent need to develop new alternatives or compatible therapies to combat the growing problem of AMR.

We are currently recruiting a Research Fellow who will be working closely with Dr Kevin Pethe as part of a large interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
