As a FUNCTIONAL ANALYST, you are expected to work in a high pace but fun, exciting and supportive environment and shall be constantly challenged to step out of your comfort zone, pioneer and try new ideas, acquire new skills and dabble in projects and pilot projects of different forms. Here are your primary duties:

• Participate in the requirement study, research, feasibility study, functional analysis and design phases, functional testing, user acceptance testing and end-user training of any new IT software development projects and/ or product development for the eldercare industry
• Perform technical and business impact analysis for modifications needed in existing web-based SaaS/SOA and bespoke applications to meet changing user requirements
• Involve in market-driven Software/ SaaS product development, enhancement and roadmapping
• Assist in troubleshooting software application and system issues
• Work with Product Owners, Software Architects, Developers, Project Managers and customers/ end users (e.g. doctors, nurses, clinicians, administrators, IT Manager, etc.) on change requests and enhancements to current systems
• Produce Functional Specification, User Story and Functional Test Case
• Chance to participate in consulting and proof-of-concept/pilot and other trailblazing/ meaningful projects

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma in any field
• 3 solid years of relevant working experience, preferably working as business analyst, system analyst, product analyst, functional consultant, etc
• Candidates should be versatile and independent in picking up new technology, and possess strong logical and analytical problem solving skills
• Able to do flowcharting and business process analysis
• Ability to grasp and understand business requirements
• Enjoy solving real-world problems, applying new technology and creating new software/SaaS products
• Good communication and interpersonal skills as you are expected to liaise/interface with customers/end-users (including doctors, nurses, social workers and healthcare professionals) regularly
• Good documentation skills
• Excellent professional and working attitude
• Proficient with MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc)
• Meticulous, good organizational and documentation skills

The Role

The Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) is a new university-level research institute in the National University of Singapore (NUS), jointly supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and NUS. SGFIN aspires to develop deep research capabilities in sustainable and green finance, provide thought leadership in the sustainability space, and shape sustainability outcomes across the financial sector and the economy at large.

This role is ideally suited for those wishing to work in academic or industry research in the financial sector, particularly in the area of quantitative analysis. The responsibilities of the role will include designing and developing smart databases of various unstructured and non-traditional information related to corporate environmental and social impacts.

There are no teaching obligations for this position, and the candidate will have the opportunity to develop their research portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:

• Design research projects in close collaboration with the Institute’s Directors (Prof. Sumit Agarwal / A.Prof Johan Sulaeman / A.Prof Zhang Weina) and Research Affiliates
• Take ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of research projects, ensuring they are completed within the required deadline and allocated budget, and meeting/exceeding project specifications and targets
• Participate in pre-project activities such as identifying required resources to ensure project completion including staffing and organizational needs of the project team, and preparing high-level project plans with project timeline and resource requirements
• Development of data collection and storage framework
• Plan and perform the collection of information from various alternative, non-traditional data sources, along with commercial databases
• Plan and perform quantitative analyses of various corporate disclosure reports and regulatory frameworks, including textual and graphical analysis.
• Plan and perform the development of databases that can be used by researchers throughout the Institute, with accessible interface for external users
• Monitor progress of research projects and provide necessary interventions to ensure smooth completion of each project
• Manage and coordinate project deliverables, ensuring their quality
• Manage the collaborations with research and industry stakeholders, including providing periodic progress updates and deliverables for grant funding body or project sponsors
• Manage industry partners’ expectation by understanding their needs and providing realistic expectations and scope of each project
• Preparation of results for industry communications, presentations, and academic articles for journal publications
• For Research Fellow position: guide, mentor, and supervise research analysts and associates on the project team
• Work closely with the rest of the SGFIN team to support SGFIN’s activities and objectives

Requirements

• Academic background in the following subjects is preferred: computing, information systems, economics, business, finance, or related disciplines. A bachelor's degree is required, a master's degree in one of these subjects is preferred, with a PhD degree required for the Research Fellow position.
• Basic understanding of financial sector (banks and other financial institutions), financial markets, corporate financial statements, and credit risk analysis, is preferred.
• A thorough knowledge of the research field of quantitative analysis is highly preferred.
• Quantitative and programming skills, including knowledge of textual and graphical analyses, are highly desired.
• Database design and management experience is highly desired.
• Proactive in problem solving.
• Good time management and planning skills with a commitment to delivery.
• Strong project management skills, with ability to manage several projects concurrently.
• Strong delivery management experience, with proven track records in managing and steering projects towards smooth execution and on time delivery.
• Adaptive to change with a positive work attitude.
