Role Overview 

An exciting opportunity to sit at the LGIM’s award-winning global Investment Stewardship team and LGIM’s newly established office in Singapore, bringing meaningful change by improving sustainability characteristics in companies and raising global and Asian markets standards.  

The successful Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Analyst will join our Investment Stewardship team in Singapore, working in collaboration with the Investment Research and Climate Solutions teams. In this multi-faceted role you will carry out engagement with companies to influence and drive improvements in a company’s approach to ESG – including but not limited to topics like climate, nature, human rights and corporate governances.

You will work in close collaboration alongside the Active Investment teams to integrated Stewardship policies into the investment process, develop engagement plans, identifying and engaging with other relevant stakeholders, undertake qualitative and quantitative research and will be responsible for producing related documentations, communications and recordkeeping for use in client reporting.

You will use your passion for ESG matters and your excellent written and verbal communication skills to enthuse and influence a range of stakeholders. The ability to review research, data, analyse and make recommendations to a range of stakeholders is a central aspect of the role.  The role would suit an enthusiastic self-starter who thrives working as part of a broader team and fostering positive relationships

Responsibilities 

Engagement

• Undertaking engagement with companies and other stakeholders on material ESG matters in accordance with LGIM’s Stewardship strategy 
• Supporting the Investment Stewardship team in developing and running thematic ESG engagement campaigns
• Developing engagement agendas and plans for specified companies, utilising LGIM’s stewardship policies, in collaboration with LGIM’s Active investment teams. 
• Undertaking voting activities for specific sector and/or region in accordance with LGIM’s Stewardship policies. Prior voting experience not a requirement. 
• Representing LGIM and LGIM’s views and positions when undertaking external collaborative engagement  

Integration: 

• Representing Investment Stewardship at LGIM’s Global Research and Engagement Groups.
• Supporting the investment teams in understanding and integrating ESG considerations and LGIM’s Stewardship policies into sector and company research. This will include undertaking regular presentations and building strong relationships with the active investment portfolio managers and analysts.    
• Developing further opportunities for integration of ESG within LGIM’s investment teams globally.

Research:

• Carrying out ESG related research to support integration and engagement activities.

Stewardship reporting and external representation: 

• Writing and contributing to external thought pieces, blogs, policies and reports on climate/environmental and broader ESG topics  
• Supporting client engagement by representing the Investment Stewardship team’s approach and activities in client meetings  
• Supporting client understanding through the development of client collateral, responding to client requests and proposals as required 
• Representing LGIM in external forums, such as industry roundtables, associations and panels as required 

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for using analytical tools to collect, correlate and analyze data for use in (1) improving operational quality and productivity, (2) aid in the optimization of current business flow and (3) understand the impact of changes, improvements, or projects on operational performance.

Responsibilities:

• Use appropriate analytics platforms and analytical tools given specific analytics and reporting requirements.
• Utilize a range of statistical methods and analytics approaches to data.
• Conduct statistical modelling of data to derive patterns / solutions.
• Perform coding and configuration of software agents or programs based on a selected model or algorithm.
• Conduct tests on the actions taken and outcomes to assess effectiveness of the model.
• Elicit business requirements from operational management or other stakeholders using appropriate techniques.
• Explore relevant solutions or programs, from an existing repertoire, that can address business needs.
• Present solution options for consideration and explain how solutions will impact the business and address requirements.
• Select appropriate visualization techniques and information displays to convey data and findings.
• Organize the presentation of data to reflect trends and correlations in a visually compelling way.
• Incorporate appropriate elements to create informative and dynamic data displays.
• Develop basic dashboards and scorecards to display internal as well as external benchmark data.
• Incorporate interactive graphics, visuals, and technical features into the data presentation.
• Communicate limitations of data and interpretations of findings
• Conduct stakeholder mapping to identify facets and nature of relationships with and between stakeholders.
• Develop efficient processes to standardize and maintain data definitions, sources, and quality.
• Provide training and guidance to individuals who initiate the data analysis and dashboard reporting process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of manufacturing process knowledge. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
• A self-starter, able to drive own initiatives and provide digital solution to drive operational excellence with business stakeholders.
• Experience in one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python, R, Shell) and skilled in writing performant SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (e.g. PowerBI, PowerApps and Power Automate).
• Working knowledge with SAP HANA is a plus.
• Strong analytical and data mining skills.

Main Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and forecasting the supply and demand dynamics of the global iron ore and steel markets, as well as the key drivers and risks affecting them. 
• Providing timely and insightful analysis and commentary on the iron ore and steel market developments, trends and outlooks  
• Developing and maintaining quantitative models and databases to support the iron ore and steel market analysis and forecasting. 
• Collaborating with other analysts across different commodities and regions to ensure a consistent and integrated view of the commodity markets. 
• Contributing to the development and improvement of the research products, methodologies, and tools. 

Experience:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience research or trading, preferably in a commodity trading house, consultancy, or financial institution. 
• A strong understanding of the iron ore and steel market fundamentals, drivers, and dynamics, as well as their impact on the dry bulk market. 
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. 
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Other skills (Computer Skills, etc)

• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other data analysis tools.
• Skillful in Python. 

Languages:

• English (Fluent)
• Ability to read and write Mandarin would be an added advantage 

Academics:

•  Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or related field of study
