The Role

The Head of Sixth Form is responsible for the strategic leadership and day to day management of the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13), providing academic, pastoral and co-curricular (including Houses) guidance and support.

The role also holds the post of Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Sixth Form. More details on the responsibilities of this post can be found in the Appendix.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

• Member of the Senior School Leadership Team.
• Contribute to the school Strategic Plan and school development.
• Lead, manage and develop the Year 12 and 13 academic, pastoral and co-curricular/enrichment programmes including ensuring continuity and progress across all year groups in the Upper school.
• Line manage Heads and Assistant Heads of Years 12 and 13.
• Work closely with our Coordinated Well-Being services to support student provision in Years 12 and 13.

• Work closely with Heads of Faculty and Heads of Year on curriculum and pastoral issues.

• Embrace the ethos that learning can take place outside the classroom as well as inside and be committed to our belief in the whole child through character education, service learning, practical approaches to sustainability and connecting to the wider community.
• Support the management, collation, analysis and use of data to inform and improve student outcomes, both pastorally and academically.
• Liaise with the Head of Learning Support (Senior School) with regard to assessment and the learning support needs and programmes for individual students.
• Responsible for monitoring and reporting on Student Attendance and Punctuality.
• Maintain and develop a whole school environment that promotes, inspires and celebrates learning and wellbeing.

General

• Be responsible for the recruitment and selection of Oxford interns and liaising with the Oxford University International Internship Programme.
• Manage and support the IB Diploma Coordinator, Head of CAS and Head of EE/EPQ in their day-to-day procedures and strategic planning.
• Keep the Head of Senior School regularly informed of IB Diploma programme developments.
• Named Child Protection Officer in the Senior School.
• Undertake any reasonable duties as determined by the Head of School.
• Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
