What is the role?

Yinson GreenTech is looking for a skilled Service Engineer to join our marine division (“marinEV”). The primary focus of this role is on the engineering, maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for battery electric vessels and charging stations. The successful candidate will work closely with ESS suppliers, perform hands-on fieldwork with high-voltage systems, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of power electronic equipment. This role requires extensive field experience, strong knowledge of electrical systems, and a commitment to maintain the highest standards of safety and performance uptime for marinEV vessels

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

System Maintenance & Support:

• ESS Maintenance: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on Energy Storage Systems (ESS) installed on electric vessels, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• High-Voltage Systems: Work safely with high-voltage systems, following industry best practices and safety protocols.
• Power Electronics: Maintain and troubleshoot power electronic equipment, including inverters, converters, and battery management systems (BMS).
• Mechanical Handling: Handle mechanical components of ESS, including battery modules, cooling systems, and structural supports, ensuring proper installation and maintenance.
• Software Updates: Collaborate with software engineers to implement software updates, perform diagnostics, and resolve issues related to vessel control systems.

Commissioning & Testing:

• System Commissioning: Lead the commissioning of ESS and related systems on new and retrofitted electric vessels, ensuring all systems are fully operational and meet design specifications.
• Testing & Validation: Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of ESS, power electronics, and control systems, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance with industry safety standards.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues during the commissioning phase, working closely with the engineering team and ESS suppliers to implement effective solutions.
• Field Support: Provide field support during sea trials and operational testing, ensuring that all systems perform as expected under real-world conditions.

Collaboration & Coordination:

• Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with ESS suppliers to coordinate maintenance activities, obtain technical support, and ensure that all system components meet required specifications.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure the seamless integration of ESS with vessel systems. Work closely with QHSE Manager to develop procedures for the safe handling of batteries during emergency incidents.
• Technical Documentation: Assist in the preparation and review of technical documentation, including maintenance manuals, commissioning reports, and test protocols.

Safety & Compliance:

• Safety Protocols: Adhere to strict safety protocols when working with high-voltage systems and power electronic equipment, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved.
• Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and commissioning activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential safety hazards associated with ESS and high-voltage systems.

Continuous Improvement:

• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities, contributing to the continuous enhancement of operational efficiency.
• Technology Updates: Stay updated with the latest advancements in ESS technology, power electronics, and marine electrification, and apply this knowledge to improve system performance and reliability.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Technical Documentation: Prepare / maintain detailed technical IOM documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and maintenance manuals.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of design changes, modifications, and maintenance activities, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

Requirements

• Diploma or associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
• Good use of Word and Excel.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Energy Storage Systems, high-voltage systems, and power electronic equipment, preferably in a marine or industrial setting.
• Proficient in working with high-voltage systems and power electronics.
• Able to write Technical Reports.

Coordinate and responsible for the planning, execution and evaluation of programmes and ensure smooth running of daily operations of the department, which includes:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Programme Planning and Implementation

• Develop and implement outreach plan to seniors.
• Develop and implement annual calendar plan of social and health activities for seniors.
• Ensure that the programmes and activities meet the performance indicators and operating guidelines issued by Agency for Integrated Care, administration of the CSQ, half-yearly progress report on the programmes and services, outcome management, etc.
• Conduct needs assessment survey if necessary.
• Initiate a case record file for every elderly household in the identified block and capture the needs of the seniors.
• Establish and motivate seniors to be active, healthy, interdependent and purposeful.
• Ensure that the activities and programmes of the centre promote a community climate of multi-racial tolerance, harmony and cooperation among residents.
• Network with other agencies to establish additional avenues of help for the welfare of the seniors.

2. Alert Alarm System

• Oversee and manage the Alert Alarm System (AAS) during the centre’s operating hours, rendering assistance when necessary.
• Establish a system to manage the AAS outside operating hours and ensures that help continues to be available when needed, including a system of recalling staff outside operating hours.

3. Volunteer Development

• Establish networks with local community-based services/ resources, such as grassroots, social services, corporate organisations and schools, to engage volunteers to help run or assist in the programmes, start income-generating activities, conduct outreach efforts etc., to match the needs of seniors.
• Recruit, interview and screen potential volunteers.
• Provide and coordinate orientation of volunteers to their assigned role and the mission and objectives of the centre.
• Place volunteers to suitable positions and areas of need, such as administration of CSQ etc.
• Supervise and support volunteers.
• Establish a system of recognition for the volunteers.
• Review and evaluate the volunteer programme to ensure relevance and to meet future needs.
• Serve as the key communication link between the centre and its volunteers.

4. Finance and Accounts

• Manage the monthly petty cash utilization of the centre.
• Implement checks and controls in the accounting system to ensure proper accounting records and also to safeguard against misappropriation of the centre’s assets.
