Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Assists the Construction Manager in overseeing day-to-day site works. This person will need to ensure site safety. Use of cranes at site involves many people from various organizations, such as the crane manufacturer, site occupier, crane contractor, and various sub-contractors that use the cranes.
Essential Job Functions:
The Site Engineer cum Lifting Engineer is responsible, but not limited to, the following:
Lifting Engineer Roles:
- Develop a Lifting program and advise the Construction Manager accordingly.
- Develop specific Lift Plans.
- Liaise with the Engineering Department for engineering calculations and drawings as required to develop specific Lift Plans according to Lifting program.
- Attend meeting with main con representatives and others to comply with inspection requirements.
- Resolve any technical problems or issues faced at the work site
- Ensuring that the ground conditions are safe for any lifting operation to be performed by mobile cranes
- Conduct/coordinate lifting operation in the area such as safety rules and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
- Investigate crane accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to Lifting Crew’s safety initiatives and necessary changes.
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
- Perform safety audits and inspect LGs, LMs, lifting machinery validity, insurance, and safety equipment to ensure safety rules and regulations are complying.
- Any ad-hoc duties assigned by supervisor.
Site Engineer Roles:
- Assist CM to supervise & coordinate day-to-day site works, including sub-contract works, safety and quality control.
- Assist Engineering Department on coordination, supervision & monitoring of the progress of the project works on site, manpower mobilization, materials planning & ordering any adjustments to keep the project on track.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment and ensure compliances according to standard rules and regulations
- Any ad-hoc duties as per assigned by Construction Manager/ Project Manager/ Project Director.
(C) Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:
- Completed the Appointed Persons - Lifting Operations Course conducted by IES or equivalent course approved by the Engineer.
- Prior experience in working in construction site, especially in Civil/Electrical Projects.
- Prior experience and knowledge in working with lifting equipment, especially mobile cranes, and lorry cranes, etc.
Company transport is provided. Pick up is at Boon Lay MRT station.
