Technical Manager (A1 main con, Building/Civil projects)

Our client is a prominent A1 main contractor renowned for their expertise in large scale earthworks for iconic projects and civil construction projects in Singapore. They’re now looking for a Technical Manager to join them in supporting their ongoing contribution to several of Singapore’s major infrastructure developments.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage technical teams to oversee project planning and execute projects efficiently
• Review and approve all technical design submissions from consultants and subcontractors
• Coordinate closely with the construction team, in house BIM team and other relevant parties to manage the design approval process
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards
• Identify and mitigate technical risks in the design and construction phases
• Resolve any technical issues and ensure design feasibility and site constructability
• Support the tender team in preparing technical tender documentation
• Prepare and submit necessary documentation for authority approvals.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations to the management and clients

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (recognized by the Professional Engineering Board)
• Possess minimum 8 years of relevant experience in design/technical engineering roles
• Experienced in managing large scale infrastructure or building projects with A1 main contractors

• 3 years project executive experience

Job Scope:

This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project planning, client and subcontractor management, design adherence, budget control, and sourcing materials. The PM will work closely with design teams and clients to ensure project timelines, quality standards, and profitability objectives are met.

1. Time Line Management

• Develop comprehensive project timelines and manage order of project fabrication.
• Identify critical time frames and allocate time slots to finalise designs with the design team.
• Ensure that project details are reviewed and finalised with designers at least one week prior to the commencement of work. Exceptions will be made for projects with very tight lead time.

1. Client Management

• ● Identify and document defects, secure necessary client approvals, and communicate deliverables.
• ● Liaise with clients regarding deliverable schedules based on sub-contractor timelines, team availability, and overall project inputs, including time, cost, and design requirements.

C. Cost Management

• Scope out, cost, and budget projects based on targeted design (TD) to ensure design integrity.
• Break down costs and ensure clear documentation to achieve profitability while maintaining high standards.
• Manage Profit and Loss (PnL) to ensure project profitability.
• Calculate and submit final PnL

D.Procurement and Supplier Coordination

• Procure materials, furnishings, and other project items according to the design specifations provided by the design team.
• Coordinate with sellers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
• Negotiate pricing and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure alignment with project budgets and timelines.

E.Design Adherence

• Ensure that design standards are met and maintained, applying creative problem-solving to address fabrication challenges.

F.Subcontractor Coordination

• Effectively communicate with subcontractors regarding design specifications and fabrication methods.
• Utilize basic sketching or hand-drawing skills to convey design concepts where necessary.
• Submit invoices from Subcontractor upon completion of their jobs via email

G.Defect Rectification

• Provide defect rectification works for past completed projects
