Stolthaven’s corporate Asset Management department is responsible for developing various new business opportunities in close cooperation with our commercial functions, various experts and local management. These range from greenfield and M&A opportunities in our core business to opportunities in new fields of business or innovation such as energy transition related. The role of business development engineer is a key role in this. As a business development Engineer, you will be supporting with everything technical around business development. These are typically large (class III) projects with capex above 0.5 mln. You will be expected to have an inquisitive mindset and willing to work on various engineering disciplines. This role is not so much focused on what you know, but more on your ability to learn!
In this dynamic role, your responsibilities range from developing conceptual designs, masterplans and other project related documentation during the early stages of a project to evaluating new technology and learning all about new products to be stored or new process at our terminals. Within the local and global Asset Management teams, you will share knowledge & experience on your expertise and act as a true partner for the various stakeholders. You should be business oriented and willing to learn the “bigger picture”, focusing on how technical problems can be solved to support business goals.
As part of the global Asset Management team, you will work in close cooperation with the network of technical specialists and procurement for developing project cost estimates to proposed facilities in consideration of environmental and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. Provides comprehensive technical and management support on all technical projects assigned by the Asset Management Director. Typically, business development conceptual engineering and innovation projects. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Prepare project details, scope engineering documents and cost estimate to prepare for initial (board) approvals for new projects
- Assist in Preparing Requests for Quotation and other procurement documents in close cooperation with Stolthaven’s procurement team
2. General multi-disciplinary engineering works, such as:
- Support the preparation of technical proposals for improvements of technical installations
- Proactively identifies technical risks in projects and seeks for mitigation
- Providing assistance in the formation of annual capital budget forecasts
- Ensure all systems within the facility are designed, installed, and maintained in accordance to local, state and federal regulations and standards
3. Support or promote innovations, new products and methods by:
- Meeting with vendors to acquire knowledge to technical advancement, cost control and alternate solutions to typical terminal design and maintenance requirements
- Attending continuing education seminars and conferences to acquire knowledge pertinent to technological advances and regulatory changes
- Interacts with other initiatives for example in Risk Based Inspection meetings contributing to standardized way of working over terminals and within team by working on corporate projects assisting the global Asset Management team
4. Enforces established plant safety and environmental policy and procedures as related to assigned projects and related tasks
Qualifications
1. Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, EI&A, Civil or related field
2. Familiarity with applicable standards and codes relating to bulk liquid storage facilities for the applicable terminal location is preferred or should be obtained as part of training. This could include API, EEMUA, ANSI, NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and CFR and any other (local) codes
3. Exposure to Multi-disciplinary project teams with various business stakeholders is preferred
4. Self-motivated to ‘close the loop’ with actions and administrative responsibilities
5. Able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders in Portuguese and/or Chinese languages
6. Able to build and maintain both internal and external relations on various levels
7. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Especially ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
8. Proven safety leadership and service mindedness
9. Competences: self-motivated, flexible, stress resistant, result driven, team player, humour
10. Requires advanced conceptual thinking in complex and/or completely new situations and analytical skills
11. Must be computer literate with specific skills in MS Office
12. Knowledge of and experience with planning software (e.g. MS Projects, Oracle Primavera etc.) and Autodesk products (e.g. Autocad) is considered an advantage
13. Occasionally the ability and willingness to work weekends and/or holidays to accomplish critical project assignments
14. Depending on the required engineering discipline, willing to gain knowledge of the following:
- Mechanical: Standards and codes relating to bulk liquid storage facilities applicable to the location, such as API, ANSI, NFPA, NEC, OSHA, CFR, PGS
- EI&A: Standards and codes relating to bulk liquid storage facilities applicable to the location, such as ATEX, IEC, IEC61511, SIL applications, field instrumentation
15. Knowledge and experience with reviewing drawings just as P&ID, E&I drawing and Automation specifications. Knowledge and experience with ACAD and or E-plan drawings
16. Willing to working in Jurong Island (Company transport is provided at designated pickup point)
