• Discuss and update Nurse Manager / Nurse Clinician / Assistant Nurse Clinician or doctors on changes in patients’ related activities.
• Participate in work improvement discussions on patient related activities and implementation on clinic operations.
• Liaise with doctors, nurses and internal departments on clarifications on patient matters.
• Observe confidentiality of patients’ information and records at all times.
• Keep abreast & update staff on changes in the clinic operational policies and procedures
• Conduct patient teaching based on patients’ eye care needs.
• Assess patients’ level of understanding and reinforces education as necessary.
• Evaluate effectiveness of patient related education to meet patients’ needs and expectations.
• Participate in the development and implementation of patient education activities.
• Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills with public and colleagues.
• Demonstrate good service behaviours in accordance to the Centre’s standards.
• Demonstrate good situational handling skills when attending to difficult patients
• Practice standard precaution and hand hygiene when in contact with patients / patient related activities and surroundings.
• Educate patients / relatives on infection control awareness and practices.
• Observe proper disposal of waste in accordance to established guidelines
• Precept and guide new staff in the care of patient.
• Orientate and conduct on-the-job training for new staff.
• Demonstrate competencies in situational handling on patient matters.
• Assist junior staff in handling difficult patients
• Conduct inventory checks on medication supplies and consumables in the assigned work area in accordance to established guidelines.
• Perform internal maintenance of equipment in accordance to established standard work instructions.
• Exercise economy and care in the use of resources.
• Assist in inventory maintenance and verifications when assigned
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of clinic environment.
• Comply with approved guidelines and safe practices according to the Centre’s set standards.
• Participate in Quality Improvement projects to enhance nursing care and delivery of service to patients
• Inform supervisor of any problems or incidents encountered.
• Participate in special / research projects as assigned.
• Conduct in-service education to Nursing and Paramedical staff as assigned.
• Participate in clinical workshops, attend meetings and relevant training as scheduled by the supervisor.
• Take on other responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Recognised General Nursing qualification or Diploma in Nursing with 1-2 years’ relevant experience preferred.
• Valid BCLS Certification
