Senior Consultant (Refining and Petrochemical)

KBR Consulting is seeking Senior Technical Consultant to work within our APAC organisation. Successful candidate will be key member of the team providing consulting services and contributing to business development activities across the full range of the chemical and petrochemical industry clients.

Reporting to the APAC management, the Senior Consultant will demonstrate competence in areas including Refining/Petrochemical Process Technology, Feasibility Study development including Technical and Economic Evaluation, Project Concept Development, Investment Strategy Development as well as Technical Due Diligence and Lender’s Technical Consultant assignments.

As a more experienced individual on our staff, the Senior Consultant performs his/her own work in terms of collecting information, developing deliverables, analysing for trends and key findings, and preparing Word or PowerPoint Reports.

Recognizing his/her project management responsibilities, the Senior Consultant should have excellent organizational skills and be good at communicating and guiding others. He or she typically manages and/or works on a few projects at one time, thereby necessitating excellent ability to multi-task, work without supervision, exercise good judgment and communicate with colleagues of a wider KBR organisation.

Additionally, a Senior Consultant supports the group’s overall sales effort through proposal/tender preparation, contract negotiation, and other client interfacing activities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Pragmatic personality with customer facing skills – you are comfortable communicating at all levels of an organisation and can translate between technical and business language
• Provide consulting services to clients during all phases of an engagement, Feasibility Study including technical and economic evaluation, configuration development and screening, energy efficiency as well as Technical due diligence and Lender’s technical consultant roles
• Support and lead marketing and business development activities to sell consulting engagement of various sizes.
• Meet and present to clients to assist with the selling process
• Lead and manage consultancy assignments with client organizations whilst controlling quality, cost and client satisfaction
• Act as and be recognised as a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ in specific expertise in one of the following value chains, such as:

1. Refining Processes
2. Commodity Chemicals Production Processes
3. Syngas Processes
4. Energy Efficiency and Optimisation
5. Prepare and deliver conference papers at international events and
6. Support the growth of the business

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering
• 10+ years of industry experience with a specific technical and/or commercial focus in the Refining and/or chemicals industries
• Knowledge of process simulation (e.g. using Hysys, Aspen Plus, LP) is a plus
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Positive and flexible attitude
• Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, good cultural awareness
• Diplomatic in meeting and working with people (internally and externally)
• Flexible and willing to work extra hours as necessary to accommodate occasional work load peaks
• Relevant higher degree is a plus (Masters, PhD, MBA)
• Work experience with an industry company, licensor or technical consultancy is a major plus
• Fluent English, additional languages are a plus
• Must be able to travel within APAC region
