DESCARTES PROGRAM

The DesCartes programme is developing a hybrid AI, combining Learning, Knowledge and Reasoning, which has good properties (need for less resources and data, security, robustness, fairness, respect for privacy, ethics), and demonstrated on industrial applications of the smart city (digital energy, monitoring of structures, air traffic control).

The program brings together 80 permanent researchers (half from France, half from Singapore), with the support of large industrial groups (Thales SG, EDF SG, ESI group, CETIM Matcor, Naval Group, ARIA etc.).

DESCRIPTION

The research work concerns the remote sensing demonstrator developed in the context of the DesCartes project on the use of hybrid artificial intelligence for monitoring, diagnostic and prognostic in structural mechanics in strong connection with the industrial partners: Naval Group and CETIM.

From the already performed researches in the context of Descartes involving inverse identification by data assimilation (images and acoustic spectra) for localizing localized damages (with their sizes and severities) at the laboratory scale, the present position, aims at gaining maturity to prove the validity at the semi-industrial level.

The technologies will apply on pressurized reservoirs, composites and metallic, with data and monitoring provided by the industrial partners, Naval Group and CETIM respectively. Damages, delamination in composites and corrosion in the metallic case, will be identified by using mechanical models (with the reduced model counterparts) ensuring the learning, smart-sensing by locating the adequate sensors (static and piezo-electric) in the optimal location (while minimizing the number of sensors), the real-time data assimilation and the efficient solution (by using hybrid AI) of the associated inverse problems. The integration of all these technologies will constitute the reservoir digital twin.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer with solid knowledge and experience in developing AI/ML systems, to accelerate incubation and delivery of new AI/ML based media and business capabilities.

You will be working with other engineers in the team to research, experiment, and build AL/ML models & algorithms utilizing various of data sources. You will be one of the problem solvers who utilises technology to address complex business needs.

The role reports to the AI Products & Solutions Lead and will work closely with other product teams within the digital department.

Responsibilities

• Implement scalable and robust AI/ML systems computing on large volumes of datasets using a variety of open source and proprietary Data Science technologies.
• Implement and integrate system components for service orchestration, scheduling, job status monitoring, model performance monitoring, failure recovery, APIs, and any other components required for a robust and reliable Machine Learning system spanning on-premises and cloud environments.
• Develop and implement data processing jobs and pipelines to provide standard, continuous, and scalable data input for future analytics and modelling needs.
• Write and automate unit, functional, integration and performance tests in a Continuous Integration environment.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure high standards of data governance during implementation.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields.
• 5+ years of software development experience with 3+ years in developing end-to-end AI/ML applications.
• Excellence in algorithms, data structure, discrete math, and distributed computing.
• Full stack experience in data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, and monitoring of AI/ML products (MLOps).
• Experience with basic software development skills, such as agile methodologies, testing, version control, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in Programming languages (Python, Java, etc).
• Experience with Cloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes, Docker, GPU, TensorFlow, Pytorch & other Opensource AI/ML framework and libraries.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL database.
• Experience working in Media & Entertainment industry is a strong plus.
• Self-directed, ability to work independently and research innovative solutions to technical and business problems.

• Assist in research to advance the science and technology of artificial intelligence. Assist the chief Engineer to work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones for the Company

Requirements:

• At least 5 years’ experience in relevant research, industrial experience required. Msc / degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related fields.
• Deep insight in machine learning and deep learning.
• Solid application background, especially in machine learning techniques with computer vision, natural language processing, recommendation system.
• Excellent programming skills in Python/C++.
• Experience with one or more deep learning libraries and platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc).
• Strong system-building and management skills and keen interests in working with emerging technologies and frameworks.

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description:

• Handle project planning, scheduling, monitoring and updating to meet project completion targets
• Perform site planning, coordination and inspection relating to the construction project so as to ensure that project completion timeline, requirements and budget are met
• Liaise with the BIM team to update the drawings or BIM Model with the latest information available timely
• Prepare as-built drawings or BIM Model and compile O&M Manual for submission
• To assist in project coordination and oversee of all Civil and Structural works on site and ensure all related activities are carried out as per drawings
• Review architectural & structural submission documents & submission drawings prior relevant authorities' submission
• Assist the Project team in site walk-down survey with other discipline engineers and Client representatives as required, in resolving technical issues until construction completion
• Liaise with internal and external parties for project management
• Any ad-hoc duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Recognized Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Structural Engineering or equivalent approved by PEB, BOA or SISV
• Good knowledge of technical design and engineering, construction methodology and construction planning
• Good oral, written and inter-personal communications skills in dealing with individuals and groups at all levels
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and knowledge of BIM
• Independent, diligent, highly motivated with excellent team spirit and cope in a fast-paced environment
• Obtain CONQUAS supervisor certificate will be added advantage

Candidates are expected to:-

• Take lead of the shipboard engineering department and engineers in the maintenance, operations, and repairs of the vessel’s mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and installations;
• Ensure seaworthiness and readiness of the vessel’s mechanical and electrical systems, equipment and installations in accordance to voyage schedule;
• Plan and maintain inventory of spare parts, fuel, and lubricating oil;
• Take charge of emergency drills and situations related to the vessel’s mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and installations;
• Develop and control plans for the maintenance of technical installations and equipment throughout the vessel;
• Deploy vessel staff in close consultation with the Chief Mate and Second Engineer;
• Appraise the performance and potential of the vessel's staff in accordance with established company procedures
• Ensure the vessel has sufficient freshwater supply for the voyage;
• Oversee bunkering procedure and liaise with relevant stakeholders for the delivery of bunker vessel;
• Ensure compliance to all local, national and international environmental laws relating to maritime safety, pollution, and domains where applicable; and
• Perform survey work in accordance with Classification Society regulations.

The ideal candidate must:-

• Possess a valid Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1; and
• Possess at least 3 years of experience as a Chief Engineer onboard a container vessel.
