Job Description
The Db2 Database Engineering Administration team is part of Operations & Infrastructure (O&I) Technology Platform and is responsible for common integration infrastructure that supports communication between multiple enterprise applications and multiple business linesShould you join our team, you will be responsible for managing the team that provides design, integration, advanced problem analysis, successful deployment, and continuous operational improvement of Db2 z OS database technology used at Visa. You should be well versed in database administration practices and principles as you will share the responsibility of managing overall database build, deployment and support. You will be expected to an influential technical domain authority for the database team.Job ScopeThis Director role is responsible for the team that delivers database administration solutions which involves complex problem solving and taking a broad perspective to identify creative solutions. This management role also serves as a technical functional specialist that guides the team to provide Db2 z OS database administration and solution on development and production systems.ResponsibilitiesManage the team that supports Db2 database and database availability, database security patching, implementation of database maintenance and support the availability of development, QA, pre-production and production environments.
Ensure that sufficient resources and skills are available to provide the required technical support.
Manage a portfolio of applications databases and work with business technology groups to implement new database solutions and to maintain their own existing database portfolio.
Develop an annual business plan that determines functional activities for subsequent fiscal year.
Assist with the provision of systems, applications and operational performance monitoring, capacity planning and utilization.
Assist with the evaluation, development of business cases for the introduction of new Db2-related software into the Visa Host Systems portfolio of supported products.
Create high customer satisfaction by resolving service issues and preventing lapses in service. Represent the Db2 z OS team at any relevant internal external meetings or seminars providing feedback presentations to the group.
Create team level strategies, establish team level goals and identify new processes to improve internal productivity.
Lead projects with cross-functional involvement, interacting frequently with customers, peers and senior managers.
Ensure adequate resources are available for the provision of database support for the MVS Mainframe Support Hotline.
Maintain awareness and understanding of the current and planned software and hardware areas to ensure that Visa’s current and future application requirements are met.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or other technology field
• Proven experience as a Db2 z OS Database Administrator or Manager
• Experience on providing solutions for very large database requirements
• Troubleshooting techniques and attentive, thoughtful problem diagnosis
• Auditing, Security and SOX compliance and reporting
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills
• Experience in setting and tracking technical goals, operational SLAs, and OKRs
• Excellent leadership and team building skills
