Facilities Technician

Overview*

Reporting to the Nurse Managers of the Endoscopy Centre, you are responsible for the setting up, performing functional checks and maintaining proper documentation on all Endoscopy Diagnostic and Audio-Visual Equipment.

Job Responsibilities*

You will be responsible for the following:

• Ensure Endoscopic equipment are checked prior usage

1. Perform set up and functional checks of all Endoscopy Diagnostic Equipment
2. Ensure cleanliness and working condition of the suction and diathermy machines.
3. Perform functional checks on the Endoscopic Camera System and console to ensure it is in good working condition.
4. Maintains integrity of sterile instruments and scopes for use on Endoscopy patients.

• Equipment Troubleshooting and Commissioning

1. Ascertain and troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions, failure, and technical difficulties.
2. Provide necessary technical support during equipment failures and collaborates with Biomedical Engineer of NUH for any technical problems needing further attention.
3. Coordinate and liaise with the Biomedical Engineer of NUH for the installations and commissioning of new Endoscopy Diagnostic Equipment and / or equipment for trial.
4. Follow up on all repairs and schedule preventive maintenance services on Endoscopy Diagnostic Equipment carried out by the Biomedical Engineer Division, NUH or its vendors.

• General IT Troubleshooting

1. Provide generic IT support to resolve hardware issues eg. printer, AIO, network, etc.

• Provide administrative support in relation to medical equipment

1. Update and maintain records of all Biomedical Equipment kept in the Endoscopic Suite
2. Maintain proper and accurate records in preparation of any impending surveillances from auditors or any relevant authorities.
3. Management of scope inventory and tracking repair and scope breakdown status.
4. Maintain proper and accurate records of scope usage for all the Endoscopic Suites
5. Participate in in-service programs, group discussions and meetings.
6. Carry out pre-purchase evaluation together with Clinician, Nurse Manager / Nurse Clinician and Ops Manager before purchasing decision is made.
7. Assist the Nurse Manager / Nurse Clinician during audit rounding.
8. Manage data storage and backup solution to ensure data security and disaster recovery.

• Maintain and assist the Nurse Manager / Nurse Clinician in the proper care of Endoscopy Diagnostic Equipment
• Provide guidance together with Biomedical Engineers to Nursing and Clinicians on the handling of medical equipment and scopes.
• Perform any other duties / ad-hoc projects as assigned by Reporting Officer
• Performs any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer.

Requirements*

Qualification Required and Area of Discipline

• A Higher NITEC / Diploma in any Biomedical Engineering related courses.

Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licenses) Experience

• A minimum 2-year of technical working experience in any Biomedical Engineering fields is preferable.

Position Summary

Technician is responsible in maintaining and repairing all M & E including air-conditioning and refrigerated equipment including all sanitary, steam, hot and cold water fittings, pumps, Ensure that all such equipment are working satisfactorily and efficient through the hotel.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair all electrical and mechanical equipment such as meters, starters, switch gears, fittings, wiring, vacuum machines, cables and all electrical operated machines throughout the hotel
• Install new starters including wiring and lying of cables, sockets, conducts, exhaust fans, door bells, television sets, automatic doors, light fittings, etc
• Run new wiring and cables, also all electrical fittings, lighting points, power points, fuse boxes, isolators, etc
• To assist other technicians to perform other jobs as required by the Management
• Observe and report any equipment, switch gears or wiring circuits which are not functioning properly and rectifying the same including MCB, SSB and ACB
• Instruct and guide junior electricians (new staff) on the repair and service procedures of all electrical equipment
• Inspect and replace all fused lamps inside and outside of the hotel, including grounds and garden lights and swimming pools
• To take readings for all electrical systems, air-conditioning systems and Heat Pumps
• Service, repair and maintain all fan coils, air handling units, cold rooms, freezers and all other refrigerated equipment throughout the hotel
• Carry out planned and preventive maintenance programs for servicing as directed by supervisors
• Maintain daily log sheets for recording of temperatures and pressures of all air-conditioning chillers, freezers and cold room and changing of temperature recording charts should be carried out once a week
• To assist other technicians to perform other jobs as required by the Management
• Observe and report any unusual signs, sound pressure or temperature or equipment which is likely to lead to malfunction
• To switch on / off air-con in areas when requested
• To follow schedule to service the air-con
• To carry out shift duties or when called upon to perform odd duties whenever a person of the same category, trade falls sick, is on vacation or absent from duties and or as called upon to do so from time to time as directed by supervisors

Key Responsibilities:
Undertake preventive and corrective maintenance, including basic troubleshooting.
Supervise contractor works and report job progress.
Prepare and submit maintenance reports, checklists, and work reports.
Monitor workplace safety of contractors.

Possess a Higher NITEC or Diploma in Engineering Fields.
Possess own Transport.
