Project Background

SEC is leading the interdisciplinary Cooling Singapore 2.0 project. The project is dedicated to reducing the urban heat island and improving the outdoor thermal comfort in Singapore. The project has develop a Digital Urban Climate Twin (DUCT) for Singapore. This includes development, deployment and operations of the necessary technical infrastructure and integration of a variety of computational models for anthropogenic heat emissions and urban climate simulations. The project is entering its final phase where is testing and transferring the DUCT to external stake holders.

Task/Job description

We are looking for a talented individual to join our interdisciplinary and international team based at the Singapore ETH-Centre.

Your key responsibilities are:

- Model and simulate the impact of district energy systems (with a special focus on cooling technologies) to urban warming in Singapore.

- Test the Energy system models to fine tune their performance in side the DUCT and de-bug when needed.

- Scenario testing. Carry a sensitivity analysis of the Energy model to understand its performance.

- Integrate these optimization algorithms into the Digital Urban Climate Twin platform.

Requirements

You should have:

- Master’s or PhD degree in Operations Research, Energy Systems, Process engineering, Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

- A good command of scripting and data analysis languages (Python, Matlab, R) is preferred.

- Experience working with model-based energy and/or building systems design is a plus.

- Experience running and testing the energy model City Energy Analyst is a plus.

Systems Deployment Engineer

About the role
As a Systems Deployment Engineer, you will take a commercial product through installation, deployment, and proof of concepts. You will also drive innovative approaches to operating and supporting infrastructure to achieve results.

In this role, you will maintain and control access to the systems, and troubleshoot technical problems with a mix of infrastructure, software, networking, system administration, and documentation challenges. You will ensure a secure, stable and reliable operations center, while advocating for our customer and operator needs. As part of our system Engineering team, you play a key role in the design and development of our Inspection and Metrology machines. In your role you will work hands-on on the mechanical integration, process optimization and automation of the machine. Your work will involve integration of the mechatronic, optical and software building blocks and will hence work closely together with Mechanical design, Hardware, Optics and software teams.

• Network and Systems troubleshooting and maintenance
• Good to have disaster recovery planning and execution

The Snr Systems Engineer manages the systems administration function and leads the organisation's system projects and environments. He/She focuses on setting goals and priorities and on mentoring and coordination as well as providing technical leadership. He/She plans and oversees systems upgrades and migrations and ensures systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and are coherent across the organisation. He/She directs the development and maintenance of technical documentation.

He/She possesses strong leadership and communication abilities, and is able to set realistic goals and implement appropriate plans to guide the team toward achieving those goals. He/She is able to address multi-faceted issues effectively and in a collaborative manner including across departments. Set system administration processes

Set system administration processes

• Establish goals and priorities, design, planning, day-to-day operation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of systems

• Align system administration with overall strategic IT service direction and business needs

• Assist with the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for spending and initiatives

• Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues

• Develop policies, procedures, and controls to ensure system security

Develop New Systems

• Partner with stakeholders to recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration

• Define systems requirements for new technology implementations

• Prepare for system expansion by studying plans and requirements

• Oversee the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems

• Prioritise tasks to ensure projects are implemented in accordance with project plans and budgets

Optimise Systems Performance

• Recommend process, product or service improvements, resource optimisation and cost savings

• Oversee hardware and software upgrades

• Recommend new technologies, methodologies, systems or opportunities for cost savings, security and service quality improvement

Manage Teams

• Oversee team management including budgets, forecasting, work allocations and staffing

• Develop staff through ongoing coaching, mentoring and career discussions

• Define common goals, direction and accountability among staff

• Drive effective performance management practices within department in accordance with company policies and procedures

Requirements / Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology or related

• Candidates must have at least 6 years of hands-on experience in Linux with ability to work with the project team in implementation projects as well as perform system administration activities for Linux systems. Knowledge in SAP will be advantageous but not required.

• At least 6 - 8 years’ experience in developing, implementing and maintaining IT systems
