Your key responsibilities

In this assignment, you have the opportunity to use established work procedures to analyze, code, implement, and troubleshoot tax based desktop, client-server and/or web based applications. Work commitment and quality consciousness is the key.

• Preparation and filing of corporate and property tax returns, payments, reports and maintenance of the Company’s tax database. Monitor and ensure the timely payment of tax liabilities
• Monitor tax audits and inquiries, including preparing responses and providing necessary documentation
• Maintain accurate tax records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
• Assist in the preparation and review of transfer pricing documentation to ensure compliance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial and operational data for tax calculations and reporting
• Gather necessary data for tax provision and compliance purposes from finance and execution teams
• Provide tax-related guidance and support to internal stakeholders, including finance and operations teams
• Conduct thorough research and analysis of tax laws, regulations and rulings for accurate interpretation and application
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9am to 6pm

1. Master the General Ledger (GL) and Reporting

• Spearhead month-end closing processes, from payroll and expense reports to accruals and journal entries.
• Dive deep into account analysis and reconciliations, ensuring precision in every detail.
• Craft insightful sales and management reports, prepare audit schedules, and reconcile GL and bank accounts.
• Be the trusted partner to the Head of Finance by delivering monthly reports that shape strategic decisions.
• Collaborate across departments to analyze and interpret key financial data that powers our growth.

2. Manage and Optimize Fixed Assets

• Take charge of Fixed Asset Management in SAP, applying your expertise in capitalization rules and depreciation policies.
• Keep our asset register sharp and accurate through regular data cleansing and disposal reviews.
• Ensure seamless reporting compliance aligned with accounting standards.

3. Drive Accounts Receivable (AR) Excellence

• Oversee daily AR operations, ensuring accuracy in sales invoices, receipts, and account statements.
• Act as the gatekeeper for customer master data in SAP, upholding compliance with company policies.
• Monitor AR aging and collaborate with intercompany partners to resolve long-standing receivables.

4. Lead Accounts Payable (AP) Efficiency

• Own the AP master data process, ensuring vendor verification and validation across three local companies.
• Be the go-to person for resolving supplier queries and ensuring prompt invoice processing.
• Guarantee timely and accurate payments while maintaining impeccable vendor and intercompany reconciliations.

5. Command Tax Compliance

• Prepare and submit quarterly GST filings, corporate income tax computations, and withholding tax reports.
• Partner with tax agents to ensure full compliance with statutory requirements.

6. Strengthen Internal Controls

• Be the champion of compliance, conducting internal control exercises and audits.
• Support Taiwan branch operations, including vendor master ownership and annual ICSA preparations.

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in Accountancy or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) with experience in financial accounting.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience with a full set of accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge in Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards, Taxation (GST, company income tax, Withholding tax)
• Proficiency in SAP and Google Workplace applications will be of advantage

Monthly & Year-End close process:

• Monitor and check completeness and reasonableness of expenses in P&L.
• Prepare and post general journal entries for expenses, accruals, allocations and adjustments.
• Monthly update of currency exchange rates in Navision.
• Prepare GL related schedules and reconciliations. Review AR / AP related schedules.
• Prepare bi-monthly bank reconciliations and ensure follow-up actions by respective Finance staff.

Management Reporting

• Prepare monthly management report and board deck.
• Prepare monthly cash flow statement, audit schedules, business report and commitment reports.
• Assist in monthly tracking and analysis of deviations of actual vs plan for revenue and expenses eg. marketing expenses.
• Perform other financial analysis as necessary to support management information.
• Circulate and walk-through monthly P&L by school/dept to respective Unit Heads.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Assist in quarterly forecasting and budgeting process such as coordination with various departments and schools and handling their queries.
• Assist in preparing forecasts and annual budgets that fall under Finance & Controlling department’s responsibilities.
• Assist in developing financial models and their maintenance for budgeting and forecasting purposes.

Audit, Corporate Tax, GST and Corporate Secretary

• Prepare quarterly GST returns
• Assist in audit process and liaise with external auditor.
• Prepare yearly audit report package.
• Assist in preparing information for yearly income tax returns and other tax queries.
• Liaise with external company secretary on secretarial matters.
• Prepare yearly annual returns and XBRL submission.

Others:

• Participate in reviewing of financial system when required.
• Assist to troubleshoot financial system when required.
• Ensure DTP are updated regularly or when required.
• Prepare and submission of survey and statistics requested from various government bodies.

Others

• Any other ad-hoc duties as required by the company from time to time.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting / Finance with 5-7 years of experience.
• Possess ACCA qualifications.
• Possess integrity and ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters.
• Meticulous, proactive, independent and able to work under pressure.
• Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Competency in MS Office, especially MS Excel.
• Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines.
• Familiar with Navision or similar accounting system.

Corporate Tax

• Assist and support in providing tax compliance and advisory services to clients spanning various industries
• Prepare clients' corporate and individual tax returns, including estimated chargeable income filing and withholding tax returns
• Assist clients in responding to queries from the tax authorities
• Attend to queries from clients and all matters arising from a portfolio of clients

GST

• Applying for GST registration/de-registration
• Preparing, reviewing and filing GST quarterly returns
• Assisting clients to apply for certain GST relief schemes
• Attending to GST queries raised by IRAS
• Conducting GST health checks, ASK and ACAP reviews for clients
• Handling GST audits and investigations
• Making voluntary disclosure of errors to IRAS
• Applying for advance rulings on the GST treatment of proposed transactions

Job Requirements

• Preferably Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification in Accountancy or SCTP Accredited Tax Professionals are preferred
• Positive attitude with great communication skills, meticulous, analytical and the ability to work effectively in a team
• Entry level candidates with recognised university degrees who are interested to pursue a career in tax are also welcome to apply as training will be provided
• Candidate with at least 3 years of relevant experience will be considered for Senior position
