Singapore’s first and only institution of its kind, iC2 provides structured educational and rehabilitative programmes aimed at empowering and enabling children and youths with visual impairments to live life confidently, independently and to maximize their potential.
We are looking for a nurturing vision teacher with a few years of teaching experience willing to take on a full-time role in our Singaporean charity organisation. As a small but growing team of enthusiastic teachers, we aim to equip our children with the relevant knowledge and skills to grow independently.
Our ideal candidate is someone able to work with children from a young age and youth who are blind or have low vision.
The successful applicant will be a skilled practitioner who can demonstrate an ability to not only effectively teach our children but to develop excellent working relationships with learners, parents, colleagues, educators and other professionals.

Opportunity type:
Full-time role, working hours of 0830-1630, 5.5 days a week with the alternate Saturday off.

Your role:
iC2 is looking for a motivated, dedicated and compassionate trainee vision teacher to teach and guide our students with low vision – a crucial role that drives our impact in Singapore.
What will you do?
- Instructs students with visual impairment in the various programmes.
- Prepare sequential and meaningful instruction based on student’s assessed needs.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to determine student’s needs and produce written reports.
- Provides assistance to schools and classroom teachers in identifying and addressing student’s educational needs, procurement of assistive technology equipment, and access arrangements for national examinations.
- Develops and facilitates Individual Education Programme for Students with visual impairment.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate and timely data collection systems and records, including, but not limited to lesson plans, student progress, and IEP goals/objectives.
- Organises and participates in events for students and outreach programmes
About you:
Education and knowledge required:
- Degree holder from recognised local or international university, with a MOE teaching qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching in local mainstream schools.
- Knowledge of low vision equipment is an advantage.
- Good command of English language. Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Working rights:
- Must be a Singaporean Citizen.
- Must be willing to travel to different parts of Singapore to conduct lessons in homes of students.
- Must be willing to work 5.5 days with alternate Saturdays off.
- Willing to travel overseas for training and conference when required.
- Must be prepared to pursue masters programme in teaching children in visual impairment after probation.

- Ability to communicate and relate to children with special needs and their parents.
- Possesses initiative when it comes to getting work done.
- Is organised, detail-oriented and systematic.
- Excellent communication skills.
