The required job scope relates to supporting the education development of the child and children of the client. Experience in dealing with children and youths with special need requirement (minor) is required.

The main responsibility of this role includes providing holistic educational support and assistance for children who are currently enrolled in an international school. The Family Teacher will play a critical role in the children’s daily lives, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes their intellectual, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Educational Support:

• Assist with homework and school assignments, ensuring adherence to international school curriculum standards.

• Manage tutors in various subjects as needed, particularly in English, Chinese, and other subjects and interest classes.

• Coordinate with school teachers to monitor academic progress and address any learning challenges.

• Facilitate educational activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

2. Childcare:

• Supervise daily routines including meal times, recreational activities, and bedtime.

• Arrange and transport to extracurricular activities, appointments, and social engagements.

• Implement and maintain a structured daily schedule that balances learning, play, and rest.

3. Cultural and Emotional Support:

• Foster a positive and culturally aware environment, respecting the family’s values and traditions.

• Provide emotional support and guidance, particularly in the absence of parents.

• Encourage social interaction and cultural exploration in Singapore’s diverse setting.

4. Household Coordination:

• Liaise with other household staff for smooth running of the household.

• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children.

• Keep parents regularly updated on children’s progress and daily activities.

Requirements:

• With experience as a tutor or in a similar role, preferably with children in an international school setting, and special need (light requirements)

Job Role

• Collaborate in the development and maintenance of School Care manuals.
• Implement the program for the class in accordance with the policies, guidelines, framework and philosophy of the centre.
• Monitor and manage student enrolment, waiting lists and intakes while staying current on industry developments.
• Responsible for the preparation and upkeep of teaching resources, arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the classroom.
• Attend mandatory meetings and seminars as part of professional development.
• Offer advice and consultations to parents and students regarding Student Care issues.
• Act as regular liaison with parents and/or guardians regarding children’s progress and behaviour.
• Plan and execute daily time-table.
• Organize and carry out school holiday activities and programme.
• Supervise students to ensure completion of homework and spelling revision is done.

Position Objective

The role of the Early Years Teacher (PreNursery – KG2) is essentially to build and maintain a successful Early Years Age 18 months – 6 year old) program within the school by providing an educational atmosphere conductive to learning and developing through the process of inquiry and in conjunction with the International Baccalaureate PYP and MYP programs.

The Bilingual Homeroom teacher has the added responsibility when designing learning experiences to ensure that two languages (Mandarin and English), are the languages during learning times.

Responsibilities

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact will be to adhered to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, they must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Cognita Regional Safeguarding Manager so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.

• Planning in KG2 (Age 5-6 year olds) emphasizes has a balance of learning engagements as planned by teachers using the IB PYP framework as well as using AERO (American Education Reaches Out) student standards.
• Reporting quarterly on student progress on Gold student achievement standards across 8 domains for applicable grade levels of PreN – KG1 and for all grades conducting quarterly Parent Teacher Conferences or Student Led Conferences; semester 1 & 2 Unified classroom Semester reporting to parents.
• Planning which accommodates a range of ability levels and learning styles; teachers are expected to modify and accommodate for students as needed, i.e. accommodating individual language needs (EAL), student support services, students who are struggling as well as students who need more of a challenge
• Planning in a collegial and professional manner with peers, showing respect, being prepared and on time, and adhering to the school wide meeting norms and team’s essential agreements at all times

Position Requirements
