The school is looking to appoint a well-qualified, energetic Classroom Teacher (EYFS) for August 2022.

• Be responsible for the teaching of a class of pupils aged from eighteen months or up-to five years of age. At this stage, there is flexibility in the allocation of a particular year group.
• Ensure medium-term and short-term plans are undertaken in accordance with the school policy.
• Ensure that the parent portal is kept up-to-date and provides useful links for parents.

• In liaison with music teacher, be responsible for rehearsing and directing children for concerts and services.
• Be responsible for the pastoral care of the children in the class and ensuring good personal relationships are fostered between the children themselves and with the teacher.
• Be responsible for the behaviour and discipline of children in the class in accordance with the school behaviour policy.
• Lunch daily with the children and monitor lunchtime behaviour (c/f staff handbook for procedure).
• Liaise closely with the Head Master and other staff members regarding any children for concern.
• Ensure that the classroom provides a stimulating and interesting learning environment. Displays should be changed regularly and be relevant to or the result of normal classroom work (c/f presentation policy).
• Be responsible for the organisation of all classroom resources ensuring they are accessible to children as appropriate.
• Ensure a range of appropriate reading books is available in the classroom.
• Ensure home/school reading diaries are read daily by class teacher and comments made as appropriate to ensure good communication.
• Ensure all paperwork is up-to-date and accurate (registers, profiles, health matters, etc.)
• Meet with parents as required and foster good professional relationships and communication with parents.
• Be prepared to market the school by speaking to prospective parents visiting the classroom, attending open evenings and acting as ambassadors for the school.
• Attend parents' evenings and school functions as required.
• Be responsible for care, security, and maintenance of resources and equipment in own classroom and throughout the school.
• Undertake all duties and procedures as specified in staff handbook.
• Organise a termly class assembly and occasionally lead whole school assemblies.
• Attend Parent Association events and other evening/weekend events.
• Attend staff/curriculum meetings including occasional whole school meetings.
• Participate in the appraisal process.
• Be prepared to attend INSETS (sometimes in evenings) and undertake continuous professional development.
• Be responsible for taking an after-school activity club in liaison with CCA coordinator.
• To be a good role model in respect of speech, dress, behaviour and care of equipment.
• Additional experience in 1 and/or more specialist fields will be advantageous.

Job Requirement:

• Minimally 5 - 8 years as a Classroom teacher with a British Curriculum School experience.
• Experienced in teaching children aged from eighteen months or up-to five years of age.
• Possesses Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from a reputable school.
• Proven track record of teaching in British Curriculum, with experience in an independent /international school is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. General Responsibilities:

D. Administration:

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated EAL Teacher to support students whose primary language is not English. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive environment that fosters language acquisition, academic success, and cultural integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Delivery

1. Design and implement engaging EAL lessons that are differentiated to support students with varying levels of English proficiency.
2. Incorporate both the Cambridge International Curriculum and WIDA (World-class Instructional Design and Assessment) standards into teaching and assessments.
3. Utilise a range of teaching methods and educational technology to support language acquisition, including multimedia, collaborative projects, and individual work.

Assessment and Monitoring

1. Conduct baseline assessments of students’ English language proficiency upon entry.
2. Monitor progress through formative assessments and adapt instruction accordingly.
3. Re-assess students at the end of each term to evaluate progress and inform future instruction.
4. Provide detailed reports to parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.

Collaboration and Support

1. Work closely with classroom teachers to provide targeted language support for EAL students across different subject areas.
2. Develop resources and strategies to assist mainstream teachers in differentiating their lessons for EAL learners.
3. Engage with parents to ensure they are informed of their child’s progress and provide suggestions for supporting language development at home.

Professional Development

1. Stay current with research and best practices in EAL teaching, including the use of WIDA standards.

Additional Duties

1. Attend school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other events as required.

End-of-Term Re-assessment and Reporting

• At the end of each term, conduct a comprehensive reassessment of each EAL student's progress, both in terms of language acquisition and academic integration.
• Provide written reports to parents detailing progress, challenges, and areas for development, as well as recommendations for continued support.

Minimum Qualifications

• A degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification, preferably with a specialization in EAL or ESL (e.g., CELTA, DELTA, PGCE).
• Experience teaching EAL or ESL to primary or secondary students, ideally within an international school setting.
• Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum is preferred.
• Experience with WIDA standards and assessments is a significant advantage.
• Proven track record of supporting diverse learners and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
