Roles & Responsibilities

Monitors and controls the safe and cost efficient technical operation of all assigned vessels using the available resources, within the defined parameters of cost, commercial viability and operational excellence in line with Owners expectations. Ensure environmental compliance policies are upheld.

Ship technical support

• Understands the contractual agreements with customers to be able to deliver the same with regards to the ship management services for each assigned vessel, in a safe and cost efficient manner.
• Monitors the effective operation of the equipment and machineries of the assigned vessels, identifying potential discrepancies from operational standards and proposes and/or implements solutions that will enhance the efficiency, performance and safety of the vessels.
• Participates in the development of the maintenance and repairs plan for the assigned vessels and monitors its accurate execution in order to identify compliance of operations according to time schedule, quality of deliverables and budget.
• Projects the requirements in maintenance and repairs activities, spare parts and technical training of the assigned vessels in order to provide valuable information for the development of the budget and maintenance plan of the vessels. Execution of technical inspections

• Manages all vessel visits, audits and inspections effectively right from planning to implementation and follow up with the aim of supporting and enhancing the operational efficiency of the fleet. Ensures that vessel visit reports are made timely, are accurate and submitted to the owner, Fleet Director and/or MD to allow a detailed analysis of the broad and specific issues affecting vessel operations and the plan for proposed corrective actions.

Execution of maintenance activities

Purchasing activities

• Monitors and assesses the requisition requests received from the vessels. The approved requisition requests are processed by the Central Purchasing Team or the Technical Officers, as appropriate, for obtaining quotations. Education and Qualifications:

Job Description

• You will be responsible for the overall management and technical operations of our Bulk fleet. This includes overseeing the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard general assessment of vessels, inspections and docking, etc.

• Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational or otherwise managed accordingly to the management agreement requirement.

• Liase with customers on technical and operational matters including vessel performance, etc

• Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance.

• Provide and compile documented reports upon completion of dry docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures.

• Identify and source for technical and operational supplies required for the vessels and ensure the rates are most economical.

• Ensure that all copies of statutory, solas and equipment certificates (life rafts, compasses, etc) are properly maintained and documented

• Provide technical assistance and advice to ships both at home port and overseas.

• Perform evaluation for dry-docking, repair quotes and selection of shipyards for repair works, ship maintenance etc

• Perform monthly review of logs processes and attend to vessel inspections

• Monitor technical status of vessel with relation to class cert and survey

• Supervise contractors’ repair/maintenance of vessels

• Perform budgeting and cost control measures on ship spares and docking requirements

• Perform technical compliance audits and investigation on defects/failures on a regular scheduled basis to ensure conformance

• Work closely with the HSE Management team to ensure smooth and successful implementation of QHSE system and policies for the Division.

• Perform systematic review of recommended codes, guidelines and standards and ensure compliance with Quality & Safety Management standards

• Ensure and maintain vessels’ zero loss time accident record and to report all vessel incidents, Near Misses to prevent and eliminate potential incidents.

• Undertake any other Technical related assignments as and when required.

Requirements:

• Min Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years as Technical Superintendent looking after Bulk Carriers.
• Possess relevant sea-going work experience as Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer with minimum class 2 certification or equivalent with in experience in Bulk carriers with ME Engines.
• Possess good organisational and communication skills and hands-on.
• Independent and resourceful. Able to work under pressure to meet deadline
• Analytical and highly proactive in technical trouble shooting and problem solving
• Familiarity with ISM / ISPS is a must
• Able to conduct effective stand-up training for vessel crews
• Ability to travel within short notice as required
• Experience on Electronic engines by MAN B&W.
• Sailing experience on Ice class vessels preferred.
• Shore experience on managing similar vessels ( Kamsarmax / Supramax Bulk Careers) preferred

• To work closely with the Production Team during the installation phase to understand the detail setup of of AVL System for subsequent operations and maintenance management.
• To lead and train a competent technical team to ensure daily Start Up, Shut Down and conducting required maintenance and trouble-shooting of all AVL equipment.
• To track,document and compile weekly summary technical report on all errors and faults on AVL equipment.
• To manage and account for appropriate spare AVL equipment stocks remain available and serviceable on site to support operations.
• To work closely and integrate with Operations Manager and Operations Team to ensure a daily positive experience for guests.
• To be part of Production Team during the de-installation phase to ensure all AVL equipment are dismantled, accounted and packed for shipment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Monitors and controls the safe and cost efficient technical operation of all assigned vessels using the available resources, within the defined parameters of cost, commercial viability and operational excellence in line with Owners expectations. Ensure environmental compliance policies are upheld.

Ship technical support

• Understands the contractual agreements with customers to be able to deliver the same with regards to the ship management services for each assigned vessel, in a safe and cost efficient manner.
• Monitors the effective operation of the equipment and machineries of the assigned vessels, identifying potential discrepancies from operational standards and proposes and/or implements solutions that will enhance the efficiency, performance and safety of the vessels.
• Participates in the development of the maintenance and repairs plan for the assigned vessels and monitors its accurate execution in order to identify compliance of operations according to time schedule, quality of deliverables and budget.
• Projects the requirements in maintenance and repairs activities, spare parts and technical training of the assigned vessels in order to provide valuable information for the development of the budget and maintenance plan of the vessels. Upon approval, follows-up its accurate execution, identifying, reporting and providing solutions in potential discrepancies.
• Monitors all vessels trading certificates to ensure compliance with existing maritime legislation, safety regulations and operational standard requirements of all regulatory bodies.
• Oversees and monitors the overall technical operation of the assigned vessels, ensures the timely and accurate completion of dry-docking on budget and of other relevant shipboard maintenance and repair activities, in order to support the operational effectiveness of vessels and increase customer’s satisfaction and commitment.

Execution of technical inspections

• Manages all vessel visits, audits and inspections effectively right from planning to implementation and follow up with the aim of supporting and enhancing the operational efficiency of the fleet. Ensures that vessel visit reports are made timely, are accurate and submitted to the owner, Fleet Director and/or MD to allow a detailed analysis of the broad and specific issues affecting vessel operations and the plan for proposed corrective actions.
• Liaises with Quality department in order to obtain the necessary information that will secure the alignment of all technical requirements and standards of the fleet assigned with Company’s QC policy as well as with relevant legislation, contributing towards environmental protection and enhancement of company’s image.

Execution of maintenance activities

• Monitors the accurate, timely and qualitative execution of all maintenance and repairs activities, in cooperation with the Onboard Management Team, reviewing the compliance of deliverables from subcontractors with agreements and requirements, in order to ensure optimum, efficient and safe operation of each assigned vessel.

Purchasing activities

• Monitors and assesses the requisition requests received from the vessels. The approved requisition requests are processed by the Central Purchasing Team or the Technical Officers, as appropriate, for obtaining quotations. Evaluates the quotations received and gives the approval to proceed with the placing of the order and ensures the timely supply of all required spare parts & stores to vessels.

Education and Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent, or
• Chief Engineer’s qualification.

Work Experience:

• 5 years of sailing experience as Senior Engineer Officer , or
• 5 years of shore experience as a technical superintendent with a ship management/owning company, or
• 5 year of combined experience of the above positions.
