Job Summary

The Technical Superintendent is responsible for the overall technical management of the tugboat assigned to him/her, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role involves overseeing vessel maintenance, repairs, inspections, and managing the shipboard technical teams to ensure the tugboats are maintained to the highest standards. The Technical Superintendent will work closely with the Operations team, HSEQ Team and Crewing team, and external service providers to ensure the fleet operates efficiently and meets regulatory requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

• Ensure vessels comply with safety, environmental, maritime, and regulatory requirements, including class and flag state regulation & requirements. Oversee the daily operations of the tugboat fleet to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Supervise the planning and execution of regular maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking activities, while ensuring the vessels are always prepared for operational deployment.
• Provide technical support to the vessel during operational issues or breakdowns, troubleshooting and resolving any technical problems that arise in daily operations. Collaborate with crew members/Chief Engineers and contractors to quickly and effectively address equipment malfunctions or failures.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess vessel condition and ensure timely certification. Promote a safety-first culture by maintaining safety standards.
• Develop and manage annual maintenance and repair budgets for the fleet.
• Prepare detailed maintenance plans and schedules, including the coordination of dry dockings and planned maintenance activities.
• Track and report on maintenance and repair costs, ensuring expenditure remains within budget.
• Provide technical training and development to crew members to ensure they are highly skilled and familiar with onboard systems. Assist and participate in drills and emergency exercises to ensure crew members are fully prepared for emergencies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records for each vessel, including maintenance logs, inspections, and repairs, while preparing and submitting regular reports on fleet performance, technical issues, and maintenance status to management.
• Oversee all technical projects, including vessel retrofits, upgrades, and modifications, while coordinating the work of external contractors and suppliers involved in these projects.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the Management.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping), or a related field. Preferably with COC2.
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent

Job Description

• To superintend all technical and safety matters concerning Company vessels and to implement the technical and safety policies of the Company on these vessels.
• Carrying out repair maintenance and servicing of vessels to the instructions of the Technical Manager.
• Carrying out the negotiations with Class Surveyors relative to the surveys on board vessels, and reporting to the Technical Manager.
• Advising the Master and Chief Engineer of planned maintenance and maintenance work to be carried out by the ship’s staff and arranging this.
• Examining vessel’s machinery spaces with reference to cleanliness and the progress of maintenance by the ship’s staff.
• Carrying out damage surveys on vessels and completion of necessary costing, reports accounts, abstracts, etc.

• Preparation of additional proposal for new regulations fulfilment if necessary with the approval of Regulatory Authority or Recognised Organization.
• Ensure ship is able to fulfil the regulations as above.
• Liaison officer and trainer for Cadet officer from Singapore Polytechnic
• When visiting a vessel of carrying out a dry-docking, he will be responsible for dealing with:

1. All technical matters locally.
2. All matters connected with the repairs, servicing and sailing of the vessel and their programming for prompt dispatch.
3. Ensuring that all his service instructions are speedily dispatched from the ship to the relevant office department or agents.
4. Carrying out a complete general inspection of the vessel and reporting to the Technical Manager on return.
5. The maintenance of safety equipment to legislative requirements and Company standards onboard vessels.
6. Submitting for approval and thereafter monitoring budgets for his area of expenditure responsibility and reporting variances.
7. Reporting relevant information to the Technical Manager regarding sea-going personnel
   

Qualifications

• COC Class 1 or 2 holders with sailing experience on oil tankers.
• At least 1 years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent in ship management operations.
• Foreign going Chief Engineer with sea experience preferred.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

1. Act as the single point of accountability, monitoring all onboard activities and providing Technical & Operational Guidance and Support to the Master & crew of nominated vessels as required.

11. Monitor and optimize vessels and seafarers’ performance. Collaborates with other stakeholders to ensure that vessels and seafarers have adequate resources to perform.
12. Review, write and provide feedback on development area of seafarers, work-performance during specific contract, while setting clear goals and targets.
13. Act as part of the Shore base Emergency Response team as required.
14. Complete any additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Fleet Manager.

Requirements:

• Engineer Officer Qualification, with First Class Chief Engineers Motor license from an IMO whitelist country; OR
• Degree in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture/Mechanical Engineering or other related.
• Minimum of 2 years’ sailing experience as Chief Engineer onboard; OR

Job Summary:

Job Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support servers running on Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Perform routine system maintenance tasks such as patching software, updating firmware, and conducting hardware evaluations/upgrades.
• Manage user access control by setting up accounts, permissions, and ensuring adherence to company policies regarding data security.
• Oversee the administration of internal resources including Active Directory (for Windows) or LDAP (for Linux), file sharing services, and print servers.
• Monitor network traffic/server utilization to identify potential issues before they become critical problems; implement performance tuning strategies when necessary.
• Administer SAN/NAS environments including disk provisioning, LUN management, zoning, fiber channel networking etc.; ensure efficient operation with minimal downtime through proactive monitoring/maintenance practices
• Develop/implement backup recovery plans for critical data stored across various platforms;
• Conduct regular audits/capacity analysis reports in order to plan for future growth needs while optimizing current resource usage.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred;
  equivalent work experience may be considered
• Proven track record managing both Windows/Linux server environments
• Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware/Hyper-V is highly desirable
• Knowledgeable about configuring/maintaining enterprise-level storage solutions (SAN/NAS)
• Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills combined with excellent communication abilities
• Ability to document processes/procedures clearly concisely
• Capacity planning expertise allowing for strategic infrastructure scaling based on
  organizational demands
