The Role

Occupational Therapist

Responsibilities

• To jointly provide professional leadership of the Occupational Therapy discipline with the Head of Therapy which ensures provision and development of efficient and effective Occupational Therapy services;
• To hold responsibility for Occupational Therapy programmes as part of the Department’s Occupational Therapy service delivery, including programme planning timelines, and administration;
• Support the Head of Therapy to develop, implement and maintain Occupational Therapy services including peer consultation, referral delegation of clients, clinical policies and guidelines reflecting evidence-based practice and within regulatory guidelines;
• Conduct regular documentation audits concerning everything related to Occupational Therapy to ensure record keeping meets AHPC regulatory standards;
• Ensure the safety standards of the gyms are of a high standard through continual observation of possible health and safety hazards through repair, maintenance and cleanliness of the gyms and all equipment by observing AHPC required standards;

• To understand the rules of other professionals and agencies who work in partnership with the Therapy Department, such as MOH, MOE, AHPC, EduTrust, CPE and private professional organisations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individualized education plans and intervention plans to achieve specific short term and long-term goals;
• Provide, document and provide general supervision to OT Interns;
• Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment;
• To assist with the development of the integrated therapy service model collaborating with the respective Heads of School in ensuring understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs through evaluation, educational program planning, and delivery;

• To implement and maintain supervision in line with the AHPC Singapore Supervisory framework and keep up to date with AHPC’s mandatory legislation;

• Carry out an average of five Group Therapy sessions per week

• Conduct observations and provide written feedback during screening for students on trial for an average of 2 students per week;
• To ensure documented and consistent communication with parents, care-givers and professionals;

• Ensure that Integrated Therapy Support staff receive clear instructions as to what they need to do while assisting the Occupational Therapist;

Qualifications

· Setting up work stations, and ensuring cleanliness and tidiness throughout shift.

· Assisting with keeping linens clean and tidy, and replacing them between sessions.

· Sterilizing equipment.

· Consulting with clients to identify appropriate massage services.

· Providing massage services listed in brochure.

· Maintaining records and filing documentation.

· Complying with all applicable standards, rules and regulations.

Working Location:

· North Bridge Rd, Singapore 198736 (MRT” Lavender, Jalan Besar, Nicoll Highway, Bencoolen)

Working Hour:

· 6 days work week, 10 - 12 hours

Requirements:

· Able to work on public holidays

· Able to work 6 days a week

· Able to work and stand for long hours

· Cannot reject assigned clients / jobs

· Proficient knowledge of foot reflexology, Tui Na massage, body oil massage, sports and/or deep tissue massage.

· Decent communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Excellent people skills.

· Well-groomed, professional appearance.

· Comfortable with performing massages on diverse clients.
