THK Therapy Service Division (TS) provides occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech language therapy services to THKMC programmes and other community organisations. TS adopts a holistic client and family-centred care approach by working with transdisciplinary or multidisciplinary professional teams, families, and other community partners. Through individual and group therapy sessions, TS addresses the various needs of clients ranging from paediatric to geriatric.

The Senior Occupational Therapist / Occupational Therapist is directly involved in the provision of therapy services related to developing and maintaining one’s capacity throughout life, to perform tasks and roles essential to productive living including self-care, daily living, leisure and work for children and/or adults. The Senior Occupational Therapist / Occupational Therapistis is responsible for the assessment, intervention provision, and management of caseload given. The Senior/ Occupational Therapist develops and provides the rehabitative care and services based on the care model, to residents of the Nursing Home(s). You will work with the residents of the nursing home to achieve optimal independence by improving and restoring their abilities in self-care, daily living, work and leisure. You will also provide functional, physical, cognitive and psychosocial assessments to understand their rehabilitation needs and set realistic goals with them. You will also educate and provide training for family members and caregivers on care-giving skills.

Clinical Care 

• Assess, evaluate and identify rehabilitation needs of residents; formulate/develop and implement appropriate individualised occupational therapy programmes to facilitate, restore, improve or maintain their abilities to perform self-care, work, leisure activities and meaningful life roles. 
• Evaluate, monitor and review treatment on a regular basis to document needs and progress of service users and ensure that treatment is appropriate and effective. 
• Evaluate and prescribe assistive devices to improve function in activities of daily living as required by residents. 

Training & Development 

• Provide training for caregivers in preparation for residents' discharge back into the home environment.

Administration 

• Maintain database/records of all residents to provide evidence-based treatment with accurate and appropriate documentation.

• Conduct parent workshops and in-house training programs for internal and external stakeholders
• Provide supervision and mentorship support to new / junior therapists.

Continuing Professional Development

• Stay current with the best practices in relation to the field of occupational therapy and evidence-based practices in relation to autism.
• Participate and engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
• Remain up to date with relevant organizational processes, policies and professional codes of conduct.

Job Holder Requirements and Attributes

• Possess a degree / postgraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an institution recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council, Singapore (AHPC).
• Applicants for Senior Therapist position should possess at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Valid practising certificate with full AHPC registration.
• Prior experience working in the field of special education and/or working with individuals with special needs is an added advantage.
• Good team player with strong communication, interpersonal skills and critical thinking, in order to effectively collaborate and provide person-centric services.
• Able to work independently and effectively.
