[What the role is]
You will lead the Maritime Innovation Ecosystem (MIE) team that supports the overarching objectives as follows:
i. Grow the marinetech innovation ecosystem through collaboration with local and international partners comprising start-ups, researchers, venture capital firms, industry players and government agencies;
ii. Strengthen technological capabilities within our local maritime industry in key strategic areas;
iii. Enhance the operations within our world-class port and port services to become smarter, safer, more efficient & sustainable; and
iv. Transform the maritime sector into a highly competitive and innovative cluster by leveraging leading-edge technology.
[What you will be working on]
Key responsibilities include:
a. Promote Singapore as the top maritime innovation hub to industry players
b. Drive PIER71™ (Port Innovation Ecosystem Reimagined) start-up initiative and collaboration with NUS Enterprise and VC firms
c. Drive collaboration partnerships for the annual Smart Port Challenge (start-up competitions and match-make with maritime corporates and investors) and attract global marinetech startups to Singapore working with MPA overseas office and global accelerator partners
d. Oversee the administration of the MINT-STARTUP project grants to PIER71™ and partners’ start-ups
e. Promote Maritime Singapore as a technology and innovation test-bed for marinetech solutions/products and encouraging the industry use of initiatives such as maritime data hub, maritime drone estate and regulatory sandboxes for autonomous vessels/vehicles
f. Grow technology networks and linkages with international maritime clusters and partners
g. Work with other government agencies and organisations on joint innovation initiatives
h. Identify upcoming and relevant maritime technology trends and developments
i. Engage industry partners to support their business and capability developmental needs in Singapore.
[What we are looking for]
Relevant training in information & communication technology (ICT), technology management, engineering, finance or business administration.
More than 10 years of working experience with/in technology start-ups, venture capitals or research institutions, including at least 4 years of supervisory experience. Experience in maritime and port industry is preferred.
An effective communicator and presenter, competent in both spoken and written English, and able to deal with ambiguity and complexity.
Possess strong people skills, design thinking skill, and a passion for technology and innovation, meeting people and selling ideas.
