HR Manager

The Asia-Pacific region comprises 9 offices across 7 countries; Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Jakarta, Singapore, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.


Objective of the Role

To support the People function effectively within the Singapore and Jakarta offices and act as a Business Partner to the partners and senior business services stakeholders.


Primary Responsibilities


Include but not limited to the following:

Business Partner

  • Provide strategic HR advice to Partners and employees regarding employee relations, policies, best practice
  • Ensure that global and regional People strategy is applied consistently and a high level of HR service is provided to Office Executive Partners and the offices


Recruitment and selection

  • Work closely with recruiters and hiring Partner/ Manager to ensure the right resources are in place
  • Support the partners on the structure and future pipeline of their teams. Actively manage headcount.
  • Work with the Resourcing Manager, APAC on lateral associate recruitment
  • Lead on all business services recruitment
  • Oversee preparation of employment contracts and make salary recommendation before an offer is made


Onboarding / Off boarding

Work closely with HR Advisor to oversee and manage the process for all new joiners and leavers, including but not limited to: visa applications, registration with Ministry of Law, induction schedules, terminations, exit interviews, etc.


Annual Evaluations

  • Work closely with the Regional HR Director and Office Executive Partners to ensure key deadlines for the offices are met
  • Ensure global priorities around renewed processed are fed through and followed by the offices and population
  • Provide assistance and advice to staff throughout the process


Annual Compensation Process

  • Lead on strategic initiatives around compensation approach for the region in line with global and regional guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Regional HR Director and Office Executive Partners to ensure key deadlines for the offices are met
  • Provide clear guidance and advice on compensation and bonus proposals adhering to global and regional strategy


Benefits

  • Work closely with internal global benefits team, external vendors and local staff on the local insurance coverage
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of local market conditions for benefits and policies, advising when these need to be updated.


Other administration

  • Work closely with the HR Advisor to ensure HR data is always up to date, complete and accurate on internal systems
  • Other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned



Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Previous strategic and operational HR experience, ideally in a legal, professional services or exceptional client service oriented environment at a senior level
  • Ability to proactively identify critical business issues and deal with or escalate appropriately
  • A positive can-do attitude - delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflict
  • Willingness to be hands-on with day to day operational requirements
  • A solutions and client focused skillset, comfortable with liaising with senior partners and stakeholders
  • High level communication skills, including drafting written documents, proofreading documents and verbal communication skills demonstrating accuracy and reliability
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Team player with the ability to work cooperatively and flexibly with a varied team of people
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity of information and use discretion when dealing with such matters - An excellent level of spoken and written English
