Head of Supply Chain, APAC

Takeda Pharmaceuticals International Ag Singapore Branch

  • The Head of Supply Chain, APAC will be responsible for building and leading the Supply Chain Teams in the respective LOCs in TAS and I-SEA countries enabling and ensuring high quality and on-time delivery of products for established and emerging markets which will include, but not limited to, the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, India, South Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and any other country that may be included in the future.
  • The role reports directly to the GEM Regional Supply Chain Coordinator.
  • The Head of Supply Chain, APAC will be a key business partner and a core functional member of the respective Commercial Leadership Teams at the Region Office.
  • The Head of Supply Chain will provide strategic inputs on all Supply Chain related matters including Supply Network design, logistics service provider selection, Demand Management and overall supply operations as required to the TAC and I-SEA Leadership teams and to the global supply teams which will require an aptitude and willingness to have direct, hands on involvement in the overall operations while also ensuring delivery of key projects and contribute more broadly to the management and leadership of the GEM RSCC Team.
  • This individual will be responsible for the roll-out and timely completion of goals and objectives as agreed with the global teams. The individual will be responsible for driving excellence in the SC teams in the countries assuring all relevant Supply Chain systems are appropriately developed, maintained and improved, including driving excellence in demand forecasting, ensuring continued uninterrupted supply of product to the markets; effectively manage recalls when needed, and ensuring the right levels of inventory are maintained in all of the countries as agreed with global and commercial teams; and including a regional senior level engagement with the respective 3PL partners in the region & customs agents.
  • Ensure excellence in S&OP meetings at the LOC level and also chair the Regional S&OP at the TAS and I-SEA Level gathering all inputs and conveying them to the GEM S&OP team in a timely manner
  • Ensure and maintain strict adherence to Takeda Ethics and Compliance standards and EHS guidelines in all areas of Supply Chain activities in the countries under his/her responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • 25% - Working with Commercial to ensure reliable Demand Forecast for the area in support of S&OP process.
  • 25% - Working with GMS to ensure uninterrupted supply of product to the area
  • 20% - Support launch of new products within the area
  • 15% - Provide guidance, support and professional development for SC teams including performance evaluations, career development and realization of required organizational capabilities, present and future.
  • 15% - Assemble/lead cross functional teams/sub-teams to resolve systemic and systematic network issues across the areas of technical and life cycle complexity that ultimately support product in the market where poor decisions impact brand availability and Takeda sales.

Specifically:

  • Providing operational leadership for a fully integrated supply chain for the APAC area (TAS and I-SEA). This includes oversight of all demand planning, management of 3PL activities and customer service for all products supplied to the area. This individual is also responsible for driving the new launch processes in the countries in the area.
  • Be a key business partner with the respective Commercial Leadership teams in TAS and I-SEA providing proactive communication and reassurance on continued supply of their business-critical products, fulfilling tender requirements and ensuring no delays to planned new launch dates (including line extensions).
  • Providing strong leadership and role modelling to ensure that innovative practices continually evolve within the organization.
  • Building and continually developing project management skills and processes within APAC supply chain teams to drive excellence in supply chain performance.
  • Building a functional capability that is nimble to the needs of the business, but in line with industry and organizational quality standards.
  • Leading capacity and planning activities to ensure that Supply Chain leadership has a clear view of the resource implications of the emerging portfolio and has proactive resource solutions agreed and in place to align operations, projects and resource management.
  • Ensuring effective collaboration with internal cross-functional teams (both within APAC and globally) on activities related to supply of products.
  • Ensuring compliance with all SOP’s and regulatory requirements
  • Effectively conduct bilateral calls between sources of supply and local teams covering short term horizon

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Essential: A Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Science or equivalent.
  • 8-15 years of progressive experience in various supply chain management roles within the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industries, including some recent manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of the regulatory environment, good manufacturing practice and good distribution practice.
  • Desired: Knowledge of ERP systems related to supply chain mgmt./planning
  • Project management and external vendor management including contract negotiation and development for the outsourcing of manufacturing and distribution services for a range of medicinal products. Ideally, including technical and quality agreements and master service agreements.
  • Understanding of Global Trade Compliance regulations and controlled substances requirements.
  • Ability to think “outside the box” and be well versed in the global distribution.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills (English) are required to facilitate information flow across internal / external supply chain partners and senior leadership.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership ability in driving change within an organization. This could include systems, processes or tools to drive success.
  • Able to recognize the importance of meeting business needs and balance cost, quality and customer service
