What the role is
The department plans and carries out the engineering design and development of infrastructures for collection of general waste and disposal of waste treatment residues, and redevelopment of closed landfills. You will be part of the Waste Collection System branch in charge of implementing District Pneumatic Waste Conveyance Systems (DPWCS) for the commercial and private sector in selected areas of Singapore and will also be involved in projects handled by the department. You will be required to work closely with various stakeholders in the government & private sectors.
What you will be working on
Your scope of work will include, but not be limited to:
- Work on ad-hoc work, projects helmed by the department and events as assigned
- Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and control projects
- Plan and manage funding and budget planning cycles for projects
- Obtain planning approval and funding support
- Manage the procurement processes to appoint project consultants and/or contractors
- Liaise and work with stakeholders such as consultants, contractors, licensees, Managing Agents, Agencies, residents, Town Councils, industry associations, NEA departments
- Attend to feedback pertaining to the relevant projects
- Explore new technologies to improve waste collection systems
- Participate in the review and update of requirements for the waste storage and collection system in the Code of Practice on Environmental Health, and the Singapore Standard for Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System (SS 642)
- dentify and plan for potential DPWCS projects in commercial and private sectors
What we are looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering
- Candidates with 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure project management would be advantageous
- Able to work independently
- Adaptable to diverse work scopes
- A good team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Good written and spoken communication skills and analytical skills
- Meticulous with a good eye for details
- Self-motivated, resourceful, organised and able to multi-task
