Our team at Continental is developing an autonomy stack for mobile robots operating in different environmental conditions. We’re looking for an experienced Robotics Software Engineer to join our team to develop state of robotic software solutions.
What you will be doing
- Improve the existing mapping, localization and navigation solutions by incorporating novel algorithms/solutions from the literature.
- Develop novel approaches and algorithms related to mapping, localization and navigation for autonomous mobile robots.
- Benchmark the performance of the existing and developed autonomy solutions.
- Optimize the execution performance of the developed software modules.
- Contribute to design and development of new utility software and tooling required for improving the overall robustness of the autonomy functionalities.
- Conduct code reviews.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Validate the developed software modules in both simulation and in real robots.
- Develop well documented industry ready software modules and libraries predominantly for ROS2.
What we’re looking for a talent with
- Proven experience in software development for mobile robotics in at least one of i) mapping or SLAM ii) localization iii) visual odometry or VIO iv) path planning v) trajectory planning and obstacle avoidance vi) motion control.
- A solid foundation in robotics and good fundamental understanding of how localization, perception and prediction modules interact and affect the rest of the navigation sub-systems.
- Proven experience in software development for robotics with good understanding on software development lifecycle and design patterns.
- Strong programming skills in either C++ or Python.
- An eye for detail, and commitment and enthusiasm to see your algorithms working on real robots.
- Robotics and/or IoT security experience is a plus.
- Experience in implementing security design principles and encryption technologies is a plus.
- Self-driven, possesses strong desire to learn new technologies and willingness to share knowledge with the team.
- Good communication and presentation skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Flexibility to travel as we may need you to travel for on-site robot testing.
