Food Laboratory Assistant

This advertisement is for recruiting for the position of Food Laboratory Assistant.

If successfully selected, you will be seconded to a MOE High School located in Ang Mo Kio.

Contract Period : 1 Jan 2024 to 31 Dec 2024.

Option to Extend: for a further period of one (1) year

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours for :

  • About 7:00am to 2:00pm (start and end timing depending on the last class for the day)
  • When more than 6 working hours, a 30-minute break will be given.
  • Service required in January to May and July to September.
  • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted public holiday.
  • Service not required on October and MOE School Holidays (eg. June, November and December) unless informed by the School when required.

The personnel shall be competent to perform the following:

  1. Maintain the safety, order and cleanliness of food laboratories, preparation rooms, utensils and equipment.
  2. Prepare ingredients for students’ practical lessons.
  3. Assist teachers to perform hand-on demonstration for students when necessary.
  4. Assist teachers to maintain classroom discipline during practical lessons.
  5. Update and keep stock on budget for food ingredients to ensure budget is adequately utilised.
  6. Compile food order list based on lesson needs in a timely manner for teachers to restock necessary supplies with school-approved food supplier.
  7. Perform inventory check for Food Laboratories when called upon.
  8. Assist in checking and inform teachers of cooker hob and oven servicing and repair required.
  9. Assist teacher in providing clear labeling for equipment, tools and food storage.

The Personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  1. At least a PSLE certificate and Food Hygiene Certificate, able to communicate, read, write and understand food terms and instruction manual in English.
  2. Familiar with kitchen appliances and general kitchen safety.
  3. Good knowledge on food ingredients and food preparation skills is a must.
  4. Training in food safety and food handling.
  5. Preferable to have experience in a school-kitchen.
  6. Competency in Microsoft applications including Word & Excel.
