We are seeking a CX Designer/Researcher who will use Mach49’s methodology to prepare for a venture’s CX needs and deliver high quality research and design outputs at speed. Mach49 partners with global businesses to build their growth engines through venture building, venture investing, strategic partnering, and targeted M&A.
This role will support venture teams in all their research interactions with customers – from finding customer pain, to validating value propositions and designing the product. When done extremely well, the venture team is guided by a deep understanding of its customer, new venture team members are up-skilled effectively, and the research process
runs smoothly and efficiently.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of design (artifact creation, design delivery planning, and artifact management)
- Proactively and efficiently designs and manages all artifacts using appropriate tools (example artifacts: Miro boards, storyboards, wireframes, landing pages, prototypes, stakeholder maps)
- Be a credible advocate for customer needs and pain, guiding the team on important CX
- decisions, referencing customer needs and demonstrating a good understanding of the venture's context and goals
- Identify upcoming risks or challenges and flag them with teammates.
- Lead the planning and execution of certain aspects of CX research
- Lead & facilitate team sessions, with goodplanning and preparation, and successful results
- Seek out knowledge on new and best practices within the industry
Requirements:
- At least 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Degree in human/computer interaction, behavioral economics, cognitive psychology, design, media studies, marketing, or related field
- Experience with a variety of qualitative user research methods from foundational (remote and in-person interviewing) generative (participatory design, storyboard/concept testing), and evaluative methods (usability testing, surveys)
- Demonstrated experience applying CX research methods for conceiving, validating and designing a product or service
- Clear and persuasive written and oral communication style
- Strong demonstrated experience in leveraging prototyping tools to create click-through prototypes to test macro and micro interactions in line with the venture's experimentation plan; knowing which prototyping method to use for a given situation and taking into account any existing design principles / guidelines that may already be established among their user base.
- Previous experience within a start-up company or venture building
- Native-level skills in verbal and written Japanese for real-time interpretation and translation in client workshops
