The appointee in this role will drive and support IAL’s efforts to strengthen institutional risk management culture, practices, and governance in IAL.
As the Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation of governance frameworks and risk management practices. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including senior management to ensure regulatory compliance and enhance the institute’s risk management framework. This role requires a strong understanding of governance principles, risk assessment methodologies, and the ability to drive risk awareness throughout the Institute.

Roles and Responsibilities
1. Manage IAL’s enterprise risk management process:
- Collaborate with risk and control owners to monitor risks and assess the effectiveness of risk control actions and key risks indicators.
- Coordinate risk reporting for the various stakeholders.
2. Increase data protection awareness and compliance among employees:
- Provide guidance and advice on compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
- Address and manage personal data protection-related queries and complaints.
- Facilitate data protection impact assessments for new systems and processes.
- Ensure regular updates of the Data Inventory Map and other data protection guidelines.
3. Streamline standard operating processes and strengthen internal controls:
- Evaluate existing standard operating processes and internal controls.
- Recommend and implement improvements to streamline processes and enhance internal controls.
- Facilitate and conduct internal audits.
4. Implement programmes/initiatives to strengthen institutional risk management culture, practices, and governance.
5.Support any other duties as assigned by the management to support the overall objectives of the Governance and Risk Management team and the Institute as a whole.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and relevant qualifications in risk management, PDPA, internal audit and accounting.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in governance, risk management, personal data protection or internal audit work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical, meticulous with strong problem solving, critical thinking, organisation and planning skills.
- Positive learning attitude, ability to work independently, and a strong team player.
- The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar.
