Position Overview:
The Platform Observability Specialist role requires a highly proficient individual, that follows a DevOps approach to delivering solutions as part of a global team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engineered solutions that are performant, scalable, and highly available across Dev, Staging and Production environments. Additionally, the candidate will take ownership of the platforms by carrying out maintenance, upgrading, capacity planning, and providing support escalation for continuous support of these platforms.
The candidate will manage projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, automate BAU tasks with scripting and configuration management tools, provide concise and professional documentation for new and current built services, and implement and/or coordinate changes following approved change control policies.
This candidate will be flexible and flourish working in a high paced and challenging environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in managing observability & monitoring stack such as Prometheus exporters, Filebeat, LogStash, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, AlertManager, and Thanos (Compactor, Querier, Store, Sidecar) is a plus.
- Experience with Linux systems administration (Windows system administration is a plus).
- Experience with Python, go, Ruby or Perl.
- Basic understanding of source control concepts, best practices, and the software development lifecycle.
- Full project life cycle ownership: project delivery from initiation to full implementation and deployment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Systematic and iterative approach to analyzing and improving systems and processes.
- Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Nice to have:
- Database knowledge:
- Experience with high availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Knowledge of PL/PgSQL, triggers, stored procedure development and optimization.
- Experience with other database platforms MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDb.
- Experience with Application tracing.
- Experience with configuration management tools i.e. Chef, Terraform, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Experience with CI / CD pipelines.
- Experience working with various cloud providers (AWS and GCP).
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and containers (Docker/Podman and Kubernetes).
