JOB DESCRIPTION
- ensuring a constant supply of clean clothing, linens and patient protection to Residents in the Home through proper handling of clean/soiled/ infected linen. Ensure safety precautions are taken in the course of his / her work.
- Collect dirty linen trolleys from the sluice rooms at the designated time
- Wash Residents’ clothing, linens such as draw sheets, bed sheets, pillow cases and, patient care accessories and curtains
- Use disinfectant or the assigned detergents for laundry which require special treatment to avoid contamination
- Soak infected clothing with disinfectant and then wash in the washing machine at the required temperature to avoid contamination
- Ensure washed and folded linens are ready for collection at the designated time and area.
- Assist to mend clothes and linen which are torn
- Ensure that the laundry equipment are functioning good working condition at all times
- Take necessary steps in the control and usage of washing detergents, disinfectant and bleach
- Record and update number of linens processed daily
- Report to the Supervisor - Laundry of equipment breakdown or malfunction.
- Keep the laundry area clean, neat and dry at all times
