Responsibilities:
- Testing of new DWDM line systems deployments, calibration, verification, BERT, etc.
- Troubleshooting of Optical devices such as Ciena and Infinera in PoPs and Datacenter.
- Handle traffic and any other queries raised by ISP
- Support team in handling optical devices/switches/routers for any incidents such as input errors, CRC, RMA etc.
- Work with ISP/vendors on fixing any issues related to the network.
- Knowledgeable on performing and reading the analysis/outcome of the OTDR testing.
- Day-to-day activities involve working on multiple vendor and various software and hardware issues
- Monitor Optical Long Haul and Metro networks and troubleshoot a variety of issues in a timely manner.
- Perform fault isolation based on the troubleshooting outcome.
- Coordinate with smart hands and optical equipment manufacturers to resolve issues and restore service.
- Partner with and escalate to, various internal teams in pursuant of restoring service and limiting impact.
- Manage and escalate critical events while communicating clearly and concisely.
- Document and optimize operational processes and procedures. Contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, dashboards and metrics to drive continuous improvements.
- Identify areas for automation and create or participate in the solution with scripting or coding skills.
- Knowledge of Network and Networking protocols.
- Improve OTN availability and efficiency
- Document and follow RMA processes and procedures for all relevant vendors. Detects and diagnoses various error/failure conditions across an array of server types.
- Work cross-functionally and cross-regionally with other optical and network operational support teams. Some weekend work may be required.

Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 2 to 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Builds productive internal and external working relationships
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Understanding of fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies
- Understanding of preparing root cause analysis for any network and server outages Programming and scripting capabilities
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work with service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs around the world
- Working knowledge of ROADM, coherent transponders and long-haul operation optical networks
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv6 and any of BGP, OSPF, ISIS or similar routing protocols
- Understanding of Optical layer (L0/L1) traffic reliability configurations using Protection and/or Restoration schemes including pros/cons
- Knowledge on DWDM
- Troubleshooting of Optical Nodes
- Knowledge of Dark fiber testing and light level testing
- Knowledge on transponders & amplifiers
