Primary Objective(s) of Position

53 years on, AWWA is looking to enhance our brand, persona and communications strategy with a team that is as diverse as the clients we serve. With over 20 different services within a single organisation, this is an exciting opportunity for one to craft, own and contribute to a single organisational narrative, be creative with service-specific communications strategies, and to hone both traditional and new media skills.

As we appreciate diversity in our team, each member is required to be effectively bilingual (in English and one other vernacular language). The incumbent for this particular role is to be effectively bilingual in both English and Tamil, as we have team members who are already proficient in other vernacular languages. The incumbent will manage and drive AWWA’s communication functions, including public and media relations, account servicing for programmes, branding, crisis communications, and reputation management by working with internal and external stakeholders, participating in cross-functional projects, and leading service events under your purview.


Responsibilities

  • Contribute to, and execute a comprehensive annual programme of activities that includes corporate communications, media relations, crisis communications, reputation building and internal communications
  • Proactively stay up to date on sector news and developments to identify media opportunities
  • Liaise with media and facilitate requests for interviews
  • Draft and update communications collateral (e.g. press releases, Q&As, factsheets, briefing documents, speeches, et cetera
  • Maintain a repository of assets (e.g. corporate photos, management bios, letterheads, et cetera)
  • Co-create and organise Signature Events
  • Manage Communications mailbox in rotation with other team members
  • Work with external vendors to:
  • Ensure that the corporate website remains updated and aligned with organisational objectives
  • Produce purpose-driven videos
  • Ensure that assets are created and updated as necessary
  • Adhere to corporate branding guidelines
  • Uphold good governance through accurate reporting and by leading the creation of the Annual Report (on an annual rotational basis) in collaboration with the COO

Account Servicing

  • Provide end-to-end Communications support for specific AWWA services:
  • Allied Health Professional Group, Corporate Services, and Family Services
  • Flesh out an annual service-specific communications plan. You will have direct ownership over content creation (e.g. Instagram campaigns) and activities for services under your purview.
  • Contribute to a story-bank of Human Interest Stories

The above activities are no means exhaustive and are subjected to amendment whenever is needed.


Job Requirements

  • Strong communications professional with three to five years of experience either in-house or with a PR agency
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations or Journalism
  • Proven track record of successful, creative strategic communication management
  • Able to build communication plans and drive their execution and measurement
  • Experience in interacting with staff across different levels and community partners through good stakeholder management
  • Adept at media relations
  • Savvy in digital and content marketing, the social media space and emerging trends
  • Excellent command of English and Malay
  • Good situational judgement and critical thinking skills
  • Passion for social impacts and outcomes
