The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is looking for a Project Officer to develop SERS platforms for gas detection. The project involves 1) development of novel plasmonic materials and SERS platform of high enhancement factor to achieve strong signal and enhance analytical performance; 2) establishing a library of SERS signal for various breath volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) upon exposure to SERS platform; and 3) constructing machine learning model for qualitative and quantitative analysis of gaseous samples. Main tasks involve 1) nanomaterial synthesis and assembly, 2) constructing model using programming software such as Python for spectra analysis
Key Responsibilities:
- Synthesize manufacturing-scale nanoparticles to meet the demand for SERS chip fabrication
- Involve in chemical functionalization of nanoparticles
- Optimize the synthesis and functionalization protocol
- Assist in building the chemometric model based on the SERS data and facilitate data processing
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Chemistry
- Strong background in Nanochemistry
- Strong lab skills
- Good knowledge in SERS platform development
- Competent in data analysis
- Experience in a plasmonics lab with strong background in SERS platform development
- Have knowledge on synthesis of nanoparticles, fabrication to produce SERS platform and the functionalization
- Good lab skills, high competency in data analysis is also favored
