The Infrastructure Planning and Acquisition (IPA) organization within CO+I is seeking a Principle Program Manager for our Region Maxima and Launch Team. This role is responsible for program managing the build & launch of Microsoft’s Cloud infrastructure and enabling our customers and partners to succeed as they adopt and grow with rapidly scaling Azure infrastructure and services. This role will be accountable for program managing new cloud region launches and customer experience across Asia. The right candidate will partner with CO+I stakeholders, drive clarity and decisions on customer demand signals to Infrastructure planning, Finance and Azure Core teams. They will also be responsible for clearly communicating updates to plans and supporting customers to successfully achieve their digital transformation goals with the Microsoft Cloud.

This is a manager position and involves people management of a small in region team, adopting Microsoft’s Model, Coach, Care values. Having an integral interest in the personal development of the team with attention to individuals’ career development is a critical aspect of the position.

Responsibilities

This role is essential in delivering Microsoft’s Cloud infrastructure with the quality our customers expect. The successful candidate will also be accountable for driving critical infrastructure decisions by capturing and analyzing customer needs. In particular, the responsibilities of this role will focus on:

  • People management of a small established team geographically dispersed across Asia, including strategic work assignment allocation, individuals career support and ongoing feedback.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and Engineering teams to programmatically deploy infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud platforms through region expansion.
  • Analyze process and tooling for build and launch activities for new cloud regions. Make recommendations on what improvements are possible and partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and create new solutions if needed. Collaborate with stakeholders and technical partners to develop process improvements.
  • Lead stakeholder audience engagement in the process of region launch motions to drive readiness and adoption through region launch. Coordinate and drive infrastructure decisions and communications in a professional and timely manner. Communicate and drive alignment on long terms infrastructure decisions at the VP/CVP level.
  • Integrate relevant data on region adoption, platform telemetry, and planning data together to identify patterns, generate recommendations, and build a plan to drive process improvement.
  • Understand and start to build experiences across multiple groups in relation to region expansion. Coach internal teams to develop problem statements to address customer needs, and/or market opportunities; identify all dependencies affected by the proposal.
  • Determine and leads process improvement to quickly scope insights. Ensure alignment between the customer, the market, internal stakeholders, and the goals of and strategy of Microsoft. Collaborate with others (e.g., Engineering, Marketing, Design) to ensure that they can satisfy customer requirements.
  • Represent customers through analysis of regional customer demand, supply inputs and variances to support long-term decisions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years’ experience in engineering, program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years' experience of People management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive projects, and build buy-in and support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).7+ year program management experience driving mission critical cross functional infrastructure projects with end-to-end dependencies.
  • Experience in planning cloud specific infrastructure.
  • Experience managing commercial / public workload migration and digital transformations.
