The Role

The focus of this operational role is preparing a complete, word-for-word account of judicial proceedings or other events where a detailed record is required using a computerised shorthand (stenotype).


Duties and Responsibilities

 Attend court proceedings and arbitrations.

 Listen to audio recording of court/arbitration proceedings.

 Provide Realtime court reporting and audio transcription.

 Create verbatim written versions of court/arbitration proceedings.

 Conduct due diligence on case-related terms/names.

 Ensure the highest possible level of accuracy in every legal transcript.

 Preparation of glossaries.

 Ensure achievement of contextual sense and flow of legal transcripts.

 Proofreading of transcripts.

What we are looking for in you

 Experience working with CaseCatalyst or Eclipse software.

 Possess an expert shorthand speed of at least 180 words per minute.

 Be proficient in Realtime and computer-aided transcription machine.

 Be proficient in English grammar, spelling and punctuation.

 Have an excellent understanding of legal principles and medical terminology.

 Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.

 Have an understanding and appreciation of legal and business ethics.

 Possess a high level of professionalism.

 Able to operate the court reporting software effectively and efficiently.

 Possess own steno machine.

 You are a team player, not afraid to roll up your sleeves to drive the execution of tasks.


Hours

 Full time, 9.00am - 6.00pm.

 Flexibility to work outside business hours and public holidays to attend hybrid hearings is required.
