JOB DESCRIPTION
At Google, Visual Designers weave iconography, typography, color, space and texture together to help our users successfully navigate our products. We believe that all of our products should be beautiful and accessible. As a Visual Designer, you’ll delight users with designs that inspire, engage and excite them. You’ll rely on user-centered design principles to produce high-quality visuals—from concept to execution—across many platforms. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your fellow designers to constantly refine the Google design language and create innovative, great-looking products that people love to use.
Qualifications
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish a unified design language, set design principles, develop and maintain best practices through documentation and guidelines.
- Create new UI patterns and continue refining the library for other designs in building compelling experiences for our users.
- Oversee and create proposals throughout the design process, including conceptual vision, executive presentations, and final mockups for implementation
- Work closely with user research, product management, and engineering throughout the entire product development cycle, from product inception and strategy to execution.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to designers and collaborate with UX to grow the level of visual design craft on the team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 years of experience as a visual designer.
- Experienced in establishing UI design patterns and design system.
- Online portfolio demonstrating visual design creativity and design system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 9 years of experience as a visual designer.
- Experience implementing visual design systems across a range of platforms in a product development environment
- Experience developing and launching a consumer product or app for multiple device.
- Experience designing for mobile apps, with knowledge in Material Design.
- Experienced with Figma, including component, style, layer management, and creating scalable design systems.
- Experience collaborating with cross functional partners (Product, Engineering, and Marketing).
