The Team
The Foundation team aims to scale Xendit engineering through toolings, automation, and policies and ensures Xendit engineers have excellent working experience here. We do this by focusing on a few important verticals in developers work e.g. training, infra provisioning, deprecating legacy tools and introducing new ones, etc.
The Role
You’re expected to lead a team to work with various teams to deliver the right solution that the customer needs, which is, our engineers’. From time-to-time you’re also going to participate in the product design, by interviewing engineers, validating feasibility with stakeholders, etc.
Our team wins are when engineers don’t have to wait for anything when doing development work. The impact of our team is going to be measured by that: liberating engineers from wasted time.
One of our focus areas, testing experience, aims to deliver excellent testing experiences for Xendit engineers. A lot of engineers’ time when doing development is spent on testing their changes, be it locally or on the cloud. We aim to empower engineers to be able to do the necessary tests with excellent experienced to deliver their work safely to the end customers.

We are looking for
We don’t require you to know a lot of engineering know-how from the get-go. However, we expect candidates to have the following qualities:
- Customer-oriented, always trying to understand their pain points, not afraid to get their hands dirty digging through their root problems
- Accountable and autonomous, having the ability to drive a project without constant supervision. We operate on trust-basis, giving you enough freedom to achieve the goal that we set, but we require you to be accountable as well.
- You don’t stop at the bare minimum, always strive for excellence.
- Discipline, you strongly believe that consistency is the key to success, and withholding your team by the same standards.
- Over-communicate, ask questions in unclear directions, raise issues early before they get bigger, etc.
- Not afraid to write a lot. We use documents extensively throughout the company as a communication tool. Being able to communicate your thoughts effectively is a must.
- Motivated to learn. We appreciate people to learn and grow with us
- You’re able to demonstrate deep knowledge of Javascript/Typescript.
- Experienced with building a RESTful web service, knowledge with Pub/Sub model.
- Experienced with unit and integration testing.
- Experienced with designing a system from scratch.
- Willing to talk to engineers and understand their problems
- Able to communicate in English, both written and verbally.
- Able to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Understand Github development flow
Bonus points if you:
- Familiar with the docker or other similar containerized application solution.
- Have developed automated/quality-of-life solutions for your previous/current company.
- Have the experience of driving large scale initiatives across multiple engineering teams
