JOB SCOPE
The Network Engineering team is responsible for the implementation of approved network architecture and designs. Under limited supervision, the team assists in the planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resource requirements for network systems of varying (moderate to high) complexity. As a member of the team, you will develop and implement network enhancements while following corporate standards. You will be sought after for recommendations for improvement and assists in staff development efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support triage, troubleshooting, and repair of production networks across Data Center and elements. Follow defined procedures and utilize tools to collect data and resolve network issues within defined SLAs. Engage with 3rd party vendors, OEMs, and field services to facilitate resolution.
• Services include server repair, circuit repair, and network repair - facilitating fault identification, isolation, troubleshooting of physical/logical issues, issue resolution, and configuration updates by following existing procedures.
• Escalate to Tier 2 and Operations Engineering leadership to resolve complex or high priority issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, or automate tasks.
• Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and implements approved methods of procedure.
• Acts as a mentor to junior staff
• Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
• Knows, understands and follows company policy.
• Proactively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of two (2) years Linux administration, server management and network management experience
• Basic networking skills.
• Aptitude to troubleshoot basic network connectivity, diagnostics and configuration.
• Aptitude to execute POPs for troubleshooting, triage, and repair
• Understanding with network routing and switching technologies and protocols including , SDH, DWDM, TCP/IP, STP, VLAN, VRRP, CDP, LLDP, BGP, ISIS, and OSPF.
• Experience with IPv4/IPv6 and familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Linux/Unix Shell, JSP, Ruby, Perl along with Linux and other OS knowledge including kernel
• Competence to certify on CompTIA, CCNA/JNCIP, CCNP/JNCIP or equivalent experience preferred.
• DNS and NTP services
• Experience in HPE servers.
• Must be willing to work the following timing: 8:00AM - 5:00PM part of the team which supports 8am to 5pm, 365 days a year
ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
• Intermediate knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Singlemode Fiber, UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, ethernet and transport technologies and protocols
• Experience with network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
• Efficient knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
• Intermediate knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
• Basic network devices and basic network appliances • Experience with network designing software, such as Visio
• Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
