Senior Researcher
Our client, a chemical manufacturer, is looking for a Senior Researcher to lead and contribute to new and existing projects to further enhance their proficiencies on analysing, physical and mechanical testing on materials such as Polymers, Composites, Elastomers etc….of the thermal-runaway barriers, which are critical and key safety aspect of the business.
Responsibilities:
· Experience with IATF 16949 automotive Quality Management System.
· Compression behavioural testing of materials.
· Planning and conducting mechanical testing experiments such as tensile, flexural, shear or compressive properties.
· Testing of parts as per Customers’ specifications
· Demonstrate Compliance with specifications
· Demonstrate Suitability / performance
· Develop and enhance test methods
· Test & Assess new materials/products from New Product Process & equipment
· Design & conduct experiments, analyse data, and provide reports, recommendations, and presentations on findings.
· Coaching/Mentoring/Guidance to Junior Technicians on the proper use of equipment
· Strong knowledge of thermal insulation materials and their mechanical behaviour
· Testing, analysis, and reporting of product performance in accordance with the specifications of automakers and battery makers.
· Identifying and managing external testing at commercial laboratories
· Developing new test protocols to model the in-use performance of thermal barriers.
· Providing innovative solutions in developing new products for use as thermal insulation materials with enhanced mechanical properties.
· Preparation of detailed work instruction documents, including direction and oversight for mechanical technicians. This includes appropriate health and safety protocols.
· Overseeing the maintenance and calibration of the laboratory’s test equipment
· Preparing detailed technical reports and presentations for use with customers
· Developing and maintaining professional knowledge of the latest developments in thermal runaway barriers and materials for compression pads in EV (electric vehicle) batteries
· Work closely with the Commercial (customers fronting) and Operations Team (Testing products from factory)
Requirements:
· Masters Degree, with minimum 1 year of relevant hands-on experience with mechanical testing and good exposure to research especially for the automotive or chemical industry for battery technology or battery products across the automotive industry is preferred.
· Excellent Time Management skills
· Appreciation of battery technology or battery products across the electric vehicle industry is preferred.
· Great interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
· A good team player, highly motivated with a can-do attitude.
