Job Description
The Finance Manager is the lead finance business partner for the organization and has responsibilities covering all aspects of financial management, performance management, financial accounting, budgeting, corporate reporting etc.
He/ she has sound technical as well as management skills to lead the Finance team; consolidate their work and ensuring its quality and accuracy, especially for reporting purposes.
He/ she is expected to provide sound financial advice and counsel on working capital, financing or the financial position of the organization by synthesising internal and external data and studying the economic environment. He/ she often has a key role in implementing best practices in order to identify and manage all financial and business risks and to meet the organization's desired business and fiscal goals.
He/ she is expected to have a firm grasp of economic and business trends and to implement work improvement projects that are geared towards quality, compliance and efficiency in finance.
Responsibilities:
Manage the organization's financial accounting and corporate reporting functions
- Manage a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Supervise and review the preparation of consolidated financial statements, business activity reports and forecasts for management and external stakeholders
- Analyse the financial performance and position of the Group’s Business Units and develop suitable accounting policies and procedures that meet reporting requirements and align with business models while also monitoring changes and emerging trends in accounting standards and regulation
- Provide financial leadership and strategic thinking to support sustainable value-creation
- Apply professional judgement to identify accounting treatments adopted in financial statements and assess their suitability and acceptability
Manage taxation-related functions within the organization
- Supervise the calculation of taxable income and income tax liabilities of the organization
- Assess the chargeable gains and losses of the organization, as well as capital gain tax liabilities
- Handles and resolve all tax-related issues to minimise the organization’s tax liabilities
- Provide accurate update and advice to management on the organization’s tax related matters
Support the organization as a business partner
- Assist and support the management to assess business decisions with financial analysis for the Group Business Units
Manage strategic planning initiatives
- Ensure and spearhead the organization budgeting process and present key findings on financial performance to management
Manage the organization's management accounting and budgeting functions
- Enhance current accounting system and process to introduce new methods for efficient integrated reporting
Support internal and external audit activities
- Ensure annual financial audit process is carried out on time and accurately
Other administrative duties as Head of Department and/or as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree in Accounting & Finance or equivalent
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience
- Prior experience in a managerial role would be an advantage
