Job Description
This project aims to investigate the mechanical behavior of precast concrete beam-column connections, particularly on its robustness against column loss scenario. The candidate will conduct experiments with concrete specimens in the NUS structural laboratory. With reference to the experimental data, the candidate will implement and validate numerical models in commercial FE software, to extract the relevant information to further the understanding of underlying failure mechanisms . Finally, the engineer has to derive a reduced order model for the design of precast concrete structures against progressive collapse.
Job Requirements
• The candidate should have a BEng degree in a relevant field, with demonstrated experience (e.g. final year projects or published papers) in the following:
• Modelling of concrete materials and structures in FE software
• Structural analyses using commercial structural FE software
• Structural analysis and design background.
• Good written and spoken communication.
• Open to fixed-term contract
