What the day will look like
The application developer role is principally responsible for the development and delivery of applications to the user base. Responsible for implementing and designing well-tested solutions for globally used applications specifically focused on the client facing activities . These activities involved include, but not limited to, API development, spatial development, UI/UX implementation, and other analytical solutions. The person in this role will also support the modernization and Cloud migration initiative for applications in the Analytics Solution service area.
As the application Developer some of your key responsibilities will involve:
- Be an active participant during the solutioning with the senior developers/architects and assist in making technology choices that ensure project success.
- Play a hands-on role with development teams when applying coding practices to the architectural design ensuring success in delivering a quality product to users.
- Work alongside the Development Team Leads during the development process to ensure project design is being followed, assist in solving issues facing the team.
- Work alongside the Development Team to Manage and own the architectural design of new applications as well as new features within existing applications.
- Conduct discovery and lead software solution development using Azure Cloud.
- Take mentorship from the Reinsurance Architecture Community of Practice regarding the principles set forth around coding principles and other architectural practices to be applied to the Reinsurance business' suite of applications.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Experience in application development, implementation, application design and software architecture
- Experience in C# development, Azure Cloud, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Able to implement solutions while considering performance and maintainability of the code
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Continuous Integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) experience
- Experience working in an agile software development environment
